You said;
"And it is the Gospel that is presented and lived at every Mass.."
I asked you what mass means?

The Mass is the presentation and celebration of the paschal mystery of Christ.
That is, Jesus crucified for us and risen fron the dead. And us united with Him in that new life...

It is the pure offering to be made in all places and at all times spoken of in Malachi 1:11

It is the wedding feast that unites us with our Holy Husband, anticipating the eternal heavenly feast.

It is called Mass, because it concludes with the faithful being sent out to live that new life in the world... To be salt for the Earth..

Peace!

P.s heres another opinion

When priests write their homilies, they have to dummie it down to a grade 8 level, within 7-12 minutes. Catechesis (instruction) occurs in the school on a daily basis, it's called "Religion Classes". Priests teach scripture, but they are not bound to that. Most of the time they try to make the scriptures relevant to today's world. "Scripture not being taught" is a attempt to justify not being there."I Have a Dream" by Baptist Martin Luther King is, IMO, an inspired speech, and it does't have a word of Scripture.
Digging at the historic Church the way some of you do just shows you never fell in love with her.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning
of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves
and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table
of brotherhood.
I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with
the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed
into an oasis of freedom and justice.
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they
will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
I have a dream today!
I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its
governor having his lips dripping with the words of "interposition" and "nullification"
-- one day right there in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to
join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.
I have a dream today!

Not a word of scripture. It's OK for Rev. King but not ok if a priest doesn't "teach scripture" to your satisfaction.

Church and schools are not the primary educators. Parents are. Faith and morals are, ideally, assimilated from the parents example, not indoctrinated at Sunday school.
MLK was a Communist, the words rise up ? not good.
All men are created equal not true at all in fact, he missed out the words " before God" ? all men are equal before God, that's true but the fact is I have never came across anyone who was equal to another man in anyway in fact.
By equal he means Communism and even under Communism no one is equal, but just as W Churchill said, that it's only an equal share in misery.

I have no problems with people who have more or better than I, if one has a gift as the Bible says one is to use that gift, just because one has more wealth does not mean that such is better.

Transformed ? into an oasis of freedom, what freedom is he on about, no one is truly free unless he is born again and as for justice well what type of justice is he truly on about, a utopia ?

I talk about Martin Luther at times and how many times people mistake that I am talking about MLK and I say no I am not talking about MLK at all, but the founder of a religion and they say that they have never heard of Martin Luther at all but they know some idiot no body ranting dip stick like MLK, because he is a god to simple minded idiots nowadays, he is not talking about Jesus Christ at all, just like Pope Frances is never talking about Jesus Christ and most of the other Christian religions nowadays are not talking about Jesus Christ, it's a social gospel of man that they are peddling now, because if you preach Jesus Christ you will upset people and we can't have that in a Socialist Political Correct State, Jesus was not of this world, that is he was not peddling the worldly works of mans nonsense like MLK, Jesus was on about the Kingdom of God and he is the wellspring there of and the only true way, where people are content in themselves and have a handle on sin.
MLK was like a dog chasing it's tail and barking at shadows.

MLK is not the first married man to accomplish his work (as his was speaking engagements) and then entertain women in sexual engagements. And many find it disgusting for such men to be upheld with honorable Titles....be it Reverend, Preacher, Priest, Honorable Judge, or the Peoples Representative. And others sometimes find no disgust, ignore it, excuse it, and keep them up on a pedestal.

God Bless,

His role from Religious Preacher to Political Activist may have changed, but he maintained the title Reverend under both roles, while is to Imply he held the same standard regardless of what position he was filling. Yet did he? Multiple extras-marital affairs, would have easily been cause to boot him out of a clergy position in a church.
Since earning his PhD, his title should be reflected as Dr.

Is there a difference? Does that mean it's wrong for a priest to preach about civil rights?
Ex-Catholics who become anti-Catholics, invent this lame excuse of not having hours of scripture spoon fed and explained in detail by every priest every homily, oblivious to the fact that 99% of the Liturgy is Scripture. They also ignore the fact that there are free scripture studies available on line, plus there is at least one parish in the diocese offering free scripture seminars presented by a M.Div. or a Ph.D. They also ignore the fact that there is a whole library, books and videos, at the local chancery office. If someone is hungry for scripture study, there is plenty of opportunity to do so. Demanding the priest do everything is like an infant screaming for pablum.

People turn their back on Jesus in the Eucharist for a lot of reasons, but that one is the dumbest excuse I've ever seen.
Catholics who go to Mass and are not a part of the parish life in some way are parasites. If my entire spiritual diet depended on a 7-12 minute homily once a week, I would have left a long time ago.

"Is there a difference? Does that mean it's wrong for a priest to preach about civil rights? " <---From the pulpit, yes I do. Catholic or Protestant.
Is not a priest supposed to preach the Gospel? Are there not teachers in the CC? I GO to Church FOR scripture teaching, worship, fellowship with other believers who actually stick around after services and, gasp, talk to each other, there are several bible studies as well on Sundays as well as different ministries, not just within the building during the week, but we support several oversees ministries...and are very big on ministering to those who are needy right around us---in tangible ways...kinda like Jesus did I dunno, that seems more like what Jesus was all about. So, I want to know why you go to mass, what are you getting out of it, really. I didn't understand then and I still don't. I feed on the WORD, no rituals and traditions of men.

I would say no, that's a joke if I ever heard. If I had to fight and bleed in the streets to get those rights, then thats not love. If anything its more like a form of respect. Respect is earned, while love, according to Jesus is not earned. Let's not mistake the illusion of inclusion in a system that always has been and always will be racist with "love". "Love" is an idea, but the reality is much, much different. I prefer to recognize the world as it really is and not like it should be.

Please, spare me your ignorant anti-Catholic bigotry. The Liturgy is the Word, dumbass. "rituals and traditions of men" is stupid funnymentalist hate speech. I get tired of hearing the same accusations every day. Guess what, sweet cheeks, Jesus didn't abolish ritual, He perfected them. And you and your ilk have changed the meaning of "tradition" into a dirty word. One big fat straw man. Start treating us Catholics like we were human beings. I've been doing this for 20 years and hostile ex-Catholics make the worst anti-Catholics. I've tried being nice to you but it's like picking up a wounded kitten. Try naming one of these false traditions instead of making stupid generalities, and stop being such a bigot.
The Catholic Church rejoices that you found Jesus, even if outside her walls, but you are too hostile to discover that. Your prejudice is glaring.

WOW !

It appears A Catholics number one Mission is to Defend the Catholic Church Agaist ALL THINGS that are Not Catholic.

Apparently Anyone who disagrees with Catholic practices, teaching methods, personal experiences, or corrupt clergy is supposed to be, at all costs Kept Secret...
And IF brought to the light....Finger Point and Disparage and Damn the speaker for betrayal of Church "secrets".

You may be content with how your Church operates, and that your Churches Pews are reserved for DIE-hard Catholics only...

However other people also are entitled to exercise their right to participate in a Church whose pews are open for Anyone to be Welcomed to sit and hear regardless if they are a member or "parasite".

First of all, you are out of line with with the names you called me.
and here is what my bible tells me about TRADITIONS old MEN. "sweetcheeks". Why do they not have a Catholic only forum? This place has gotten a bit to un-loving and I can feel it rubbing off on me, it's time for a break. And, if you think grey matter is gonna get you through them pearly gates-think again.

Hope you do not leave the forum.
You know the carnal minds of men are against God, and also against men. It is the constant carnal thoughts seeping out of the mouths that become old and tiresome.
Welcome to being hated for His Namesake.

Keep standing up and testifying, you are not alone.

Thank you Taken. Never again will allow a human being to chase me off! Lol...just hurt a bit coming from him...the questions I asked were legit IMO...I only needed a little break because I did not want my own anger to lead to sin, and it would have definitely taken me to that point. I know when God says "BACK OFF NOW" Lol.
Peace!
