I use AI for Latin tutorials and to dbl check my homework (sometimes he messes up)and we discuss some Bible things

Here I had a question about carved or molded images, and what the difference was (because they were separate in the Bible verse I found). This is what Chat said:

"As an AI language model, I do not have personal opinions or beliefs. However, I can provide information on how the Bible, as a religious text, may address or mention different types of images.

The Bible is a complex and multifaceted text that contains various passages and teachings related to images and their significance. In some religious traditions, there are interpretations of the Bible that highlight the importance of distinguishing between different types of images, such as carved or molded images.

One possible reason for the differentiation between carved and molded images in the Bible could be related to the historical context and cultural practices at the time when the Bible was written. In ancient times, carved images were often associated with idolatry and the worship of false gods or idols, which was considered to be a violation of the commandments against worshiping other gods in the Hebrew Bible (Exodus 20:3-6). On the other hand, molded images may have been associated with artistic or decorative purposes and may not have carried the same connotations of idolatry.

Additionally, the process of carving an image from a solid block of material was often seen as a more labor-intensive and deliberate act, whereas molding could be seen as a quicker and less precise process. This distinction may have been reflected in the Bible as a way to highlight the intentionality and effort involved in the creation of carved images, which were often associated with religious worship and potentially seen as more problematic.

It's important to note that interpretations and understandings of biblical teachings may vary among different religious traditions, and the significance of carved and molded images in the Bible may be interpreted differently by different scholars, theologians, and practitioners. It's always recommended to consult specific religious texts, interpretations, or religious authorities for a comprehensive understanding of any religious teachings.

I thought it was a great answer.
Actually, that is a answer from Roman Catholicism in order to absolve themselves from idolatry.

I don't see that at all. Chat explains the difference between molded and carved.
What is your answer then? The Bible mentions 2 types one carved and one molded. Why the differentiation? I would think that the molded referred to artwork as well

There is no difference.

Jeremiah 10:8-16
But they are altogether dull-hearted and foolish;
A wooden idol is a worthless doctrine.
Silver is beaten into plates;
It is brought from Tarshish,
And gold from Uphaz,
The work of the craftsman
And of the hands of the metalsmith;
Blue and purple are their clothing;
They are all the work of skillful men.
But the Lord is the true God;
He is the living God and the everlasting King.
At His wrath the earth will tremble,
And the nations will not be able to endure His indignation.

Thus you shall say to them: “The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth shall perish from the earth and from under these heavens.”

He has made the earth by His power,
He has established the world by His wisdom,
And has stretched out the heavens at His discretion.
When He utters His voice,
There is a multitude of waters in the heavens:
“And He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth.
He makes lightning for the rain,
He brings the wind out of His treasuries.”

Everyone is dull-hearted, without knowledge;
Every metalsmith is put to shame by an image;
For his molded image is falsehood
,
And there is no breath in them.
They are futile, a work of errors;
In the time of their punishment they shall perish.
The Portion of Jacob is not like them,
For He is the Maker of all things,
And Israel is the tribe of His inheritance;
The Lord of hosts is His name.

I think it was perfectly ok to embellish buildings with image. They don't all have to be idols.

It all depends on what those images are and represent.
There is God glorifying imagery of Creation.

i love art and so does the LORD who created all things = His Creation is the most astounding portrayal of true art.

"For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood from His workmanship, so that men are without excuse." - Romans 1:20

ChatGPT is pretty good at writing songs, so I just gave it a try. I told chatGPT to write a gospel song, this is what it came up with

"Verse 1:
When I'm feeling down, when I'm feeling blue,
There's a light that shines, a love that's true,
It's the grace of God, that fills my soul,
And a peace that's beyond all control.

Chorus:
Hallelujah, let the angels sing,
Praise the Lord, for everything,
He's the one who carries me,
Through the storms, and on to victory.

Verse 2:
When I face the trials of this life,
And the road gets rocky, with pain and strife,
I know I can turn to Him above,
And find comfort in His endless love.

Chorus:
Hallelujah, let the angels sing,
Praise the Lord, for everything,
He's the one who carries me,
Through the storms, and on to victory.

Bridge:
I may stumble, I may fall,
But He's there to lift me up through it all,
He's my rock, He's my light,
And in Him, I find my might.

Chorus:
Hallelujah, let the angels sing,
Praise the Lord, for everything,
He's the one who carries me,
Through the storms, and on to victory.

Outro:
Now I walk in faith, with my head held high,
Because His love, will never die,
And every day, I give Him praise,
For the hope that fills my days."
