Prison food...
I experienced 3 levels of prison food...
When you are sentenced to jail in court they don't take you straight there. Instead they lock you up in "the yellow submarine".
This place is the absolute pits. Concrete cells with steel bars. Isolated. They don't even take you outside. I was in there for 3 days but i know people who were in there for up to 2 weeks in those conditions its inhumane.
The food there is horrible... The cheapest microwave meals that u can find... Their disgusting... Airplane food is better
Then you get moved to the assessment prison. Murderers, robbers, rapists and all in the same dungeon. Its intimidating but i felt much better than being isolated. The cells are more like rooms, there is a TV, a kettle, a bar fridge, shower, toilet, you have company, you can move around when its not lock up time, go to the library, play sport, socialize... Many of us would walk around the yard to exercise while chatting away. I need laughter and would often be drawn to people that liked to joke around.
The food is a bit better but its still pre packaged microwave crap.
But you only stay in there for a few days before being moved off again to your final destination, low security for me...
After the courthouse lock up and the assessment prison this place was like a hotel and the food was sensational... They had a kitchen crew of inmates who cooked the meals and they were hearty... Away with the plastic cutlery and in with real cutlery...
Bangers and mash i had on the first day there and i went back for seconds... Three square meals a day... Twice a week we had desert as well... Food becomes currency, if you don't like apples, like me, then u trade them for oranges. Never throw away food.
Then there is your grocery shopping were you can order anything you like for a once a week delivery. Chocolate, candy, sweets and stuff if you have money...
Now im thinking... Surely these new quarantine prisons will be like low security prison... Its not so bad there...
In fact if your homeless then you would rather be in there...
Anyway, just thinking, mentally preparing for that possibility
