LOL now lets add the necessity of water baptism as practiced and taught by the catholic church.Mungo said:Where does it say that in scripture?
It seemed a simple enough question.Rex said:LOL now lets add the necessity of water baptism as practiced and taught by the catholic church.
I pray Lord, help us and please return quickly so the nonsense will be put to rest.
And just where does it say sprinkling with water is baptism as well as excluding the "drink" or wine from communion?Mungo said:It seemed a simple enough question.
This is the Bible Study & Discipleship Forum
Is there a problem with showing where the Bible states that "baptism in water is simply a public testimony of our faith, that we have
accepted Jesus in our lives and that we desire to follow Him"?
You seem to have a problem answering a simple question.Rex said:And just where does it say sprinkling with water is baptism as well as excluding the "drink" or wine from communion?
Lets face it the churches today and of the past all have their own form of interpretation "necessities" for salvation.
Bible study is a pick and choose proposition in the world today.
Your the one that will be required to give an account so choose wisely.
You seem to have a problem with selective definitions.Mungo said:You seem to have a problem answering a simple question.

AKA baptism and communion, nether of which you practice as described in the NT.
Then you think you can tell others what the bible says and teaches, that's a bit hypocritical don't you think?
Telling people they must be baptized but not practicing baptism by immersion, or practicing the necessity of communion and excluding the drink.
Then stand here with a straight face and tell people what is and isn't in the bible, really!
Gee! You have a serious problem.Rex said:You and I both know your a catholic, to now try to presume your not going to implicate the teachings of the catholic church is completely disingenuous.
I would simply like to forgo the formalities and get to the bottom of the matter, but you can dance to the song any way you like, unless of course you have denounced the teachings of the catholic church?
So lets not build a straw-man or beat around the bush shall we
Your hypothetical question? that will lead to your point, that I already addressed?Mungo said:Where does it say that in scripture?
I'd like to see an answer to this, as this is my understanding of speaking in tongues, it is to be understood by someone hearing.Rex said:Are you or anyone else able to stand before any people of the world and speak in tongues and they understand? as was done in Acts chapter 2?
If not then, then your mouth has spoken of something your faith can't support or produce.
Rex said:Your hypothetical question? that will lead to your point, that I already addressed?
LOL
Do you see the big letters above, that's what makes it a hypothetical question, you know the answer, or have your response already formulated.Mungo said:It's not a hypothetical question and you have not even attempted an answer.
Nor is belief that "baptism in water" is more than "simply a public testimony of our faith" a particularly Catholic belief. Many Protestant denominations believe this also.
As the title of the thread is "Baptism in water vs Baptism in Holy Spirit", it seems reasoble to question what seems to be an assumtion in the OP.
I can't understand why you have a problem with answering this, but must keep dodging round and raising straw men that have no bearing on my question.
Your the one that made the statement above. Why?Shy said:Guys, you made this whole topic a mess.. I just desire to know a simple answer to a simple question..
No problem I'll leave you to your thread, I'm sure that a casual glance at other topics will reviel what I have said is true.Shy said:Are you perhaps blaming me because I desire to know and learn more about God? Perhaps you should have not replied in this topic in the first place?
Whatever the case, Jesus is love and I desire to be like him.
