I recently decided to take a bath on a whim and found I enjoyed it more than taking a shower. It's slower. It's more deliberate. It's comfortable. I can listen to music or a podcast.

Which do you prefer and why?

I like showers because it's fast and efficient. I have long hair so shampooing and conditioning is a bit of a mission. :clmSmlx

The last time I took a bath was 18 years ago in Kakamega, Kenya. The place where I was staying heated water on an outdoor fire every morning and handed me five gallon bucket. Ever try taking a bath in a five gallon bucket? I’ve been a shower man ever since.

Shower. Sitting in dirty water is something I prefer to avoid.

“And when he that hath an issue is cleansed of his issue; then he shall number to himself seven days for his cleansing, and wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in running water, and shall be clean.” (Lev 15:13, KJV)

I prefer a running water shower.

The shower in the kids' bathroom at my parents' house leaked behind the wallboard, and Dad didn't want to tear out and replace the drywall to fix it, so we grew up taking baths.

Most of the places I've lived in since I've been on my own didn't even have baths. (Our current place is an exception.) It seemed weird when we'd go back to visit my folks and having to take baths again.

One of the joys of a shower is when somebody flushes the john and the water in in the shower becomes scalding hot as the cold water gets diverted away from the shower heads. My college dorms were particularly bad about that. The posted etiquette was to yell "FLUSH!" first so that everybody could step out of flow path. Failure to do so would invariably invoke a string of blasphemous curses.

Not always some of us have free water (we have well water) but we also have septic systems (where too much water can eventually lead to bad things for us) :doldrums:
I don't get free water, but I won't be limited. I had a house once, with a septic tank too. I've never been on well water, but that's free. If you are on city water, you have tiers. I rarely get past tier 1 and that's with copiously watering my grass. The question is, What's too much water?

Had 5L black bags that lay out in the sun, when out riding in the bush away from anything, so you just hang it up a tree and you have a shower adjuster head hooked to it and get wet then grab the soap then rinse off, and do your hair as well with 5L.

Befor the black bags, we used a 44 gallon drum cut in half long ways set up on over a fire to warm it up, then just adj water with cold water to your wants and a 5L bag hung up with a shower adjuster sweet !

At home we have to pay for how much water we use nowadays because of Socialist Governments are so backwards. but our 120L hotwater system works fine for 3 days with no power for 4 people to use.

A mate has a 300L hot water system for 3 he is an idiot ! claimes use this shower head, it saves you water ! I say have you ever adjusted the tapes to not be flat out !

When I worked in Katherine NT we had donger shead showers, and boy the amount of dudes who had real hot showers, like walking in to steam filled room, shocking ! I did not even use the hot tap at all, because it was bloody hot anyway, I wanted a cold shower after the heat of working the whole day.

I always would want a big bath tub in the house tho.
I made me my own bath tub out of bricks and tiled it all, just for it to be totaly the right size for me and then made a stone spar tub out back. and just an above ground pool is fine.

I have made many Tubs for Asians real big ones as well like 3 people stand up with handles etc and also with 3 shower heads big showers. all tiled to the roof totaly ! the Asians know how to have a realy good bathroom ! top quality as well.

I really enjoyed your story, @Reggie Belafonte. Had no idea you were just across the ditch.
