St. Francis once asked God; "What can I do to know you, Lord?"

The Lord answered: "As little effort as it takes for you to make the sun rise in the morning"

St Francis replied "Well, why am I killing myself praying day and night, meditating on the scriptures, and preaching?"

God said; "So you will be awake when the sun rises"

Peace

This is a "wow" to me because of the layers.
We have the fact that, Yes we can converse with our Creator!
For those that do not avail themselves to it or mght not even believe it can happen, it does.
Real sentences actually happen telepathically in your head....it is very humbling, awing and is always clear personal revelation.
(It has happend to me only 3 times.)

Second, it shows what we all need to hear - it takes no effort to know our Lord, God, Father, Creator.
Be still - delight in Him - He is closer than your breath. It takes a much effort as feeling a mist on your cheeks.

Third, the delightful sense of humor of the Lord - as Saint Theresa of Avila so often described.
Fourth, St. Francis' astuteness ---Why am I killing myself, then? LOL!

Great comments!

The writings of St. Francis have gotten me through good times and bad....

I also love Mechthild of Magenburg "Flowing of the Godhead"

Yah-weh - our inhalation / exhalation and never-ending prayer, given to us by God

What? What do you know about Yahweh being our inhalation and exhalation?
I've never had anyone ever say anything close to this on any Christian Forum.
And if I came close to hinting, I was ignored.
Spill...

That is really all there is to tell - it is a Jewish idea

Yah - inhalation; weh - exhalation. The never-ending prayer

It represents the breath God gave adam and eve - it also represents our life - we breath until we die.

Ever breath is a reminder of God's grace and our life - it is a prayer of thanksgiving and submission to God.

I think it is such a cool idea.

Ahh, it's way more than a cool idea, actually - maybe we should take this into pms.
And way more than a prayer of thanksgiving and submission to God.
Interested in finding out more? Let me know.

Can you tell me where you read this or heard this that the Jews realize this?
I've never heard a Christian be aware of this. Or Jews, ha!
They have no clue what the significance of YHWH is typically ---rearding our breath that is.
Thanks, aspen
