No, our govt. would not ever come to a halt--not unless God took away the country itself. BTW, my wife and I both prayed for the Prime Minister--my wife is English. We turned on the TV, and saw other people praying for him!

When I was over there I didn't like the apparent anti-American sentiment among some of the English people. It seems like a lot of misplaced jealousy. Frankly, I don't know who is worse, in terms of backsliding--England or the US? Nevertheless, I'm praying for both.

I'm still searching for a verdict on Wilkerson. I've posted the question on 3 websites, and didn't get a single hit on all 3! I guess nobody really knows?
In what way did you find the anti American, you used the word ‘ apparent’ so can I presume it wasn’t aimed at you personally, but something you picked up on from another source. I am intrigued, why do you think it is down to jealousy .......I find that fascinating, I have never felt any jealousy with regards to what the USA has or represents ... but one common ‘ attitude ‘ that does seems to create the negatives with some is the arrogance that can come across at times. Generally though most over here look upon the USA as friends across the pond.
I am not sure anyone can truly give a verdict on a prophecy given some time ago, that is, perhaps , unfolding ......isn’t it only through the passage of time and looking back that any verdict can be given........

A bit like in the days of the British Empire, some who were from the Empire could not imagine that others elsewhere would view them in anything but an unquestioning light.

I think that here in Canada Americans visiting would find Canadians generally to be friendly neighbours but who would not at all look at Americans in terms of the jealousy he claims to see in English people.

I do generally agree with Randy K's point about the continuity of government.

Posted this elsewhere, but out of care for this community I thought it should be posted here as well. Some are saying the world economy will rebound from Covid-19, but as much as I would like to believe that to be true, I think it is a very uninformed opinion.

The following vision is instead what is likely about to come to pass. It is a warning for believers to trust the Lord for their financial welfare rather than keep borrowing from creditors, because the standard of living we enjoyed up until now, especially in the States, is now about to become a thing of the past. Those who incur more debt now will place themselves in danger of being in bondage to it for a very long time to come, as paying off debt will become extremely difficult in the not too distant future.

The following vision was given two decades ago, but I believe its fulfillment is now at hand.

Blessings in Christ,
Hidden In Him
_______________

A Field Of Dreams Or Nightmares?

While praying about the future of our economy, I was given a vision of a long, lush green field. I felt that this represented a long period of economic prosperity, which has generally been the case since that time. While praying in August 1995, I saw this field in a vision again, but with much more detail. The end of the field was covered in fog. Not far into the fog there was a very steep cliff. In the middle of the cliff, there was a narrow, twisting, steep path that appeared like a descending bridge. It had the same green grass on it that the field did and went all the way to the bottom.

Those who walked into the fog almost all missed the little path and fell over the cliff. Some of these died, but nets below the cliffs caught many of them. However, these nets were not there to save the people but to trap them. Others entered the fog carefully, dropping to their knees and searching for the path, which they seemed to intuitively know was there. Most of those looking for the path were able to find it and carefully started down on their knees. A few people had parachutes, and they jumped off the cliff into the fog.

At the bottom there was a sea with four kinds of ships in the harbor: slave ships, warships, luxury liners, and hospital ships. Most of the ships were slavers. The next greatest number was warships. There were only five hospital ships, all of which were on clean, well-kept docks right in the middle of the harbor. The two luxury liners were docked at each end of the harbor. An abundance of supplies were on their docks, but both the docks and ships looked filthy and poorly maintained. No warships were docked, but all kept moving about in the harbor.

The people who fell into the nets were put on the slave ships...

Interpretation and Insights

That I can now see the end of this field indicates that the end of our economic prosperity is now in sight. What I saw at the end was much more catastrophic than I had ever thought. There are some very dark times ahead, but at the same time there is a whole new world being built right in our midst that is more wonderful than we can even imagine.

To the degree that we have built our lives and faith on the economy of the world, we have built on a very shaky foundation. We know that the time will come when everything that can be shaken will be. The time that we have been given until that happens is for the purpose of preparation. Let us build our hope and trust on the kingdom that alone cannot be shaken.

Those who kept walking into the fog just as they had been walking in the open field, not discerning or not acknowledging the change, either perished or fell into slavery. Those who immediately fell to their knees found a safe way down, but it still led down. They had to stay on their knees all the way; no one could have stood up on that slope because it was too steep and narrow. Falling to our knees speaks of prayer. As soon as we see the fog, or confusion, we must pray for every step we take thereafter.

That no one ascended, but all went down to the bottom of the cliff, spoke to me that the economy of the whole world was going down. Many will survive what is coming, but not at the level they are presently. Much of our present standard of living has been built upon credit, borrowing from the future, and the future is now here. We are fast approaching the time when the bills will have to be paid. That will cause a drastic reduction of our present lifestyles.

I felt that the slave ships were banks. During the Great Depression, banks were so over extended that most of them failed. Somehow, they have now positioned themselves to not only survive another economic collapse, but will actually be in a place to enslave those who are in debt to them...

Really? You don't sense that anti-American dismissal in the British tone, sometimes on the TV and sometimes among the people? I think it is more among the average people, though. I do find the current administration friendly towards our administration, and do believe we have a solid friendship. And we have many of your folks over here. I love hearing them on our Fox news broadcasts! Nile Farage is a guest occasionally. And Americanized Steve Hilton has a show, "The Next Revolution," which is really good. Between my wife and all of the British actors and reporters on American TV I'm getting to the point where I don't notice the British accent anymore! ;)

Like you have the Conservatives and Labor, we have Republican conservatives and socialist-leaning Democratic liberals. The political bias I saw against the US exists in the UK media in the same way it exists here in the US, with the Leftist media and politicians attacking conservatives. If our liberal parties attack Trump and his political ideology, the liberals and socialists in the UK would likely attack Trump, as well. This is likely more a matter of ideological opposition to Trump and his party planks than anti-Americanism.

But among the people, I have heard some trash-talking--I'm not even sure where? Probably it was on TV or on the street. I've been there several times, and as an American I am sensitive to this kind of "rejection." It does feel like jealousy, though the US is largely a very over-sized grandchild of Britain! I've heard Americans spoken of as "cowboys." That's certainly odd, from my perspective! But I certainly don't let it cause me to judge the UK as a whole.

I must say that I also have a certain bias against the UK--I was offended by the direction it had been going, under the guidance of the media, and in the anti-Brexit movement. And I certainly was offended by the mayor of London! But that's just me. I'm happy that the Brexit thing worked out!

The UK media seemed to have a liberal bias, as in our country, and regularly assaulted conservative ideology, which is to be expected. I do think you may have some balanced treatment, as well. Not sure?

Let me assure you I have a vested interest in the well-being of your country. Almost all of my wife's relatives live there. And I have to say, my wife was amused the 1st time we traveled to London. I sat there staring at Big Ben and the Parliament building. I was wide-eyed and struck by the history. I really came to love and to appreciate the UK and the British people. I began to find them to be far more friendly than I had expected. There was a kind of stereotype in America in which the British are looked on as stiff and arrogant. But my father had been a great lover of British comedy. And I enjoyed that too, when I was last over there! ;)

Hi Randy ,
I guess it depends where you live in the UK and what you watch........I love your quote about America being ‘ a very over sized grandchild ‘ .....I have many friends over in the USA, many on the forum, and they are not arrogant... sadly like the few that seem negative towards the US over here, it’s not a measure of the whole country.
Brexit, well what can I say, you should have been living in the UK- it was very frustrating, and we haven’t left Europe yet !!!!! ( what a fiasco )
We don’t just have the conservatives and labour, we have other political parties.......it’s not just left or right , that’s why I get frustrated when I am clumped in one group because Of things I may say on the forum.......
Nigel Farage...........he is a nightmare, I do not like him at all ( oh I was pro Brexit, but I don’t like many things that come out of his mouth ) ......... sadly I think many over here do not respect or understand Trump, and I think that can cause negative reactions within our press, as you say they can manipulate.
The London Mayor did not help himself when he showed disrespect to president Trump on a few of his visits, felt that was just so wrong......kind of glad that I don’t live in London, and that he is not my local mayor !

I am not a fan of Fox News ....although in all honesty I seldom watch US news, a bit like our news, you cannot really trust it.

British comedy, well I must admit I think we are great at clever humour........I do watch many USA programs, your comedy is not always to my taste as I find it a bit predictable ....but I think humour is a very personal thing. Game of Thrones was one amazing series, shame about the ending, which was stupid. I am not really into the Hollywood or celebrity culture .......as far as I am concerned actors ect are just doing a job they are trained for , like the rest of us, they have been placed way to high and there egos boosted by the money they receive.
Do people still think of cowboys , well my dad might ( he loves a great western movie )
There are good and bad on both sides of the pond ..........
You know, your quote about being ‘ over sized grandchildren ‘ ...well maybe that is what I see sometimes, teenagers stamping their feet and presuming the world revolves around them.....where as , perhaps , I am just old and tired !! Lol
I think this thread has digressed —- ooops

Dead on, and his five dominoes are a further confirmation (though as I said earlier, the real depression will begin setting in in earnest next year). I could verify what he talks about when discussing the last domino through numerous additional prophesies, but I'll save that for another time.

I listened to this link, but not to the end, did you read the disclaimer at the bottom...really interesting and very eye opening.......So you are going to promote a video that encourages people to ‘ invest ‘ in certain shares in order to save themselves ...and that you have to do it NOW .........he uses the word ‘ could ‘ a lot in the lead up .........this mans message is not prophecy , it’s speculation ....this does not prove prophecy in any way.......
I didn’t think you were allowed to promote anything within the forum that involved money investments .....
Have you invested, like the speaker has, to protect his family ............
Look predicting going into a depression is one thing........even I could say ‘ this could happen’ ..before reading any of the prophecies, and any of the garbage this man is spewing out as a marketing ploy ........

Yea, everywhere I turn around on the internet, this guy is promoting his ad. I've been hooked by these kinds of ads before, starting w/ an interesting story, and constantly promising THE answer, if you keep on listening. 2 hours later you're still hearing him promising to deliver THE answer...if you only subscribe to this newsletter, etc. I'm not doing it anymore--pure trash!

You can tell because they just spend half an hour talking about how good they are, how accurate they've been, how much of the time they give good advice that makes money. I saw this guy before, and turned him off. But then I saw him being promoted here. After listening for 5 or 10 minutes, I knew it was another pathetic marketing ploy. You're right! They shouldn't be here.

The scriptures tell us there will be many false prophets toward the end.
For prophecy to have any sort of credibility there must be some sort of fulfilment otherwise it will be dismissed. Does it mean that the prophecies of false prophets don't have fulfilment? I don't think so. Satan can and does understand the future events about to unfold even if it is in part and can accurately predict certain events. If this were not the case deception would not be able to be pulled off.

I guess many of you poohoo the prophecies/visions of E.G.White re the last days even though what she wrote has not been read by yourselves….your opinions are formed from what you have heard others say or your own preconceptions.

She spoke considerably about the time of the end which if you want to be informed about you need to familiarise yourself. These matters were written over a hundred years ago. Her book 'The Great Controversy" has been around for decades the latter chapters of which deal with the time of the end.
Make the effort and read it……you can then determine its accuracy.

The warnings have been available for decades but you know the saying, 'you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink'

If I weren't presently using a borrowed computer I would up load it here now for you, nevertheless, I have uploaded it previously on ChristianityBoard. If you did a search you would find it.

this mans message is not prophecy, it’s speculation

Yes, it is educated speculation. Jim Rackards was general counsel for the hedge fund Long-Term Capital Management, and worked on Wall Street for 35 years. He was also the senior managing director for market intelligence at Omnis, Inc. He has testified before the U.S. House Science Subcommittee on Oversight. The other credentials he cites in the video are true as well. What is the harm in citing him? Why should his opinion be dismissed as unworthy of even consideration?
garbage this man is spewing out as a marketing ploy ...

I don't think someone should be judged as greed-mongering simply because they elect not to give away their books for free.
So you are going to promote a video that encourages people to ‘ invest ‘ in certain shares in order to save themselves ...and that you have to do it NOW

He explains this. Those who didn't listen to him in 2008 still haven't recovered financially from their losses. Why? Because they played around too long and didn't act quickly enough to prevent ended up losing their shirts. Again, why is he a self-serving opportunist "spewing garbage" because he is once again trying to warn people?

Rita, why are you so judgmental? You are judgmental not only of me but of everyone who happens to disagree with you on this subject?

I'd enjoy reading it, actually. But the search engine at this site leaves something to be desired unfortunately. I searched The Great Controversy under your name and only got two entries of you mentioning the work but nothing else.

I also looked for specific quotations on the economic downfall by searching Google, but didn't have much luck, so please try and find your work and post it here for me. I would certainly like to take a look. There are aspects of Adventist theology I disagree with, but that doesn't mean there was no truth whatsoever in the things E.G. White taught, or in what she may have even seen prophetically, and I think it would be a mistake to assume that.

He gives the answers in the video; spells them out very plainly. The only parts he does not explain are details that would take multiple hours to explain further, and could not be contained in a one hour video. He then offers an annual subscription to the newsletter at $49, including receiving six Books he has written at no cost.

I wouldn't think charging someone $49 for six books and a years worth of subscription to his newsletter is being exorbitant. As for me, I have no interest or need of such material. The Lord Jesus Christ supples my needs and will until I die. I posted the video simply to give another credentialed opinion on what is coming.

I don't buy it. The Dow Jones took a big hit in 2008; but if you held on without buying or selling anything, you'd be ahead now big time. It was around 13,000 at its highest in 2008 before the crash and it fell to 7000 or so.

It was over 14,000 in 2014. That means if you held the stocks you had without buying or selling any, you would have recovered fully by 2014.

This year, it looked ready to hit 30,000 but then fell to 18,000. You'd stil be ahead if you just held the stocks you had in 2008. As well, if you owned stocks that paid dividends, you would have gotten cash in addition to the rise in the prices of the stocks. Right now, it's at 23,000 -- almost twice what it was at its highest in 2008.

Hello, Giulliano.

The stocks he is most likely referring to specifically were those associated with the Housing Market, which he states he warned Congress about back in 2008 three weeks in advance of Lehman Brothers going belly up; a warning they ignored.

Three of the worst-performing stocks in the S&P 500 in 2008 were American International Group Inc (NYSE: AIG), XL Group plc (NYSE: XL) and Genworth Financial Inc (NYSE: GNW), each of which declined between 88 and 97 percent in 2008. The common thread among these three names is easy to spot. They are all insurance companies that had major exposure to either the U.S. housing market or the housing derivatives market.
More generally speaking, they all had major exposure to the part of the market that triggered the recession to begin with: the housing market.
The Best And Worst Stocks Of The 2008 Crash: What We Learned

I looked up what happened to the shareholders in AIG and what they endured after 2008, and it wasn't good. The Government bailout allowed them to retain 20% value on their stocks, but that was it. A lawsuit to retain any more than that failed:

No shareholder damages
After concluding that AIG’s shareholders had proved that the Government was wrong, the court then reluctantly concluded that, according to legal precedent, the shareholders had not suffered any economic loss and were, therefore, not entitled to damages. The issue here was whether their damages were to be measured by what the government gained — $22.7 billion it received from ultimately selling the AIG stock – or by what the AIG shareholders lost – the value of their AIG stock, which would have been zero when, without the government loan, AIG would have gone into bankruptcy. According to the court, “common sense suggested” that the damages were the $22.7 billion the government had received “from selling the AIG common stock it illegally exacted from the shareholders for virtually nothing.” Legal precedent, however, focused on the AIG shareholders’ loss on the theory that, if the government has deprived a victim of something, compensation should be based on what the victim was actually deprived of. The court followed legal precedent, concluding that the AIG shareholders had suffered no loss from the government’s illegal extraction of almost 80% of AIG’s stock. As a practical matter, the shareholders were undoubtedly better off with 20% of a company avoiding bankruptcy than they would be with 100% of a company forced into bankruptcy.

My question in all seriousness is: Why would your men's meeting discuss these prophecies of the destruction of the US "with excitement?" Is it just the fact God is speaking to the Church? Is it that God is giving us instructions on how to clean things up? What?

I dont think their excitement was over the destruction of the US but rather more over...when you see these things begin to pass, look up...

He was also the senior managing director for market intelligence at Omnis, Inc. He has testified before the U.S. House Science Subcommittee on Oversight. The other credentials he cites in the video are true as well. What is the harm in citing him? Why should his opinion be dismissed as unworthy of even consideration?

I don't think someone should be judged as greed-mongering simply because they elect not to give away their books for free.

‘ who is everyone else ‘ - please list them ...........so that I can weigh it up .....
Sorry HIH , I flatly refuse to just sit back and not say if I don’t agree with something .......or if the Lord has laid something on my heart to address ....I might just add that I was not the only one who has seen an issue with this video, or other things that you have posted.......
Remember to let me know who else I have been ‘ judgemental ‘ about with regards to this matter x

These kinds of videos are "sucker ads." I've been suckered by them a few times, robbing me of lots of valuable time. It's the same thing with non-news worthy articles that pretend to provide interesting facts.

What the article actually does it take you down the rabbit hole of a fraction of a fact at a time, terrorizing your reading with multiple pop ups and ads until your computer locks up.

It is an advertising trap, sucking you in with some interesting facts that is based on your known website visits and interests. It's all for the dollar value of advertising, or selling books, or even just to get you to subscribe to something. They could just be collecting your personal information, in some cases.

I don't at all think you had a bad motive. This is just a warning to you about these kinds of videos.

Sorry HIH, I flatly refuse to just sit back and not say if I don’t agree with something...

Well I noticed, LoL.

If you want me to list them as you say, here are the early sources I quoted, in the following order: A prophecy by Rick Joyner, a prophecy by Selveraj, a video by Jack Chapple, and an article by economist Nouriel Roubini. I will post them again here:

A Field of Dreams or Nightmares? by Rick Joyner | MorningStar Prophetic Bulletins 2012
"2020 is a year of preparation. From 2021 on... the President of China will arise mightily and strong like the mighty statue of Nebuchadnezzar. He will seek to bring all nations under his control. He will gain great strength to dominate the world's economy... once a nation becomes economically strong, other nations will bow down to listen. Thirdly, the United States of America. It will weaken in strength and dominance. It will be like a molting eagle without strength or vigor. Its feathers will be plucked away. Its beak will be broken and cast away. Even its eyes will be gouged out and thrown away. It will become helpless, purposeless." - Sadhu Selveraj.

The Eagle is the national emblem of the United States, so the symbolism is playing off of this analogy. When an eagle goes into molting it indeed becomes helpless. It can't fly, so it must scavenge for food as best it can, which leads to further weakness and deterioration of health. The word "purposeless" here likely refers to mass unemployment, which again will be all the more reason not to incur increasing debt.
Noticed this yesterday, and I think it confirms what I was saying in the OP, and what the prophecy in Post #2 states about the year 2021 and beyond.

NEW YORK (Project Syndicate) — After the 2007-09 financial crisis, the imbalances and risks pervading the global economy were exacerbated by policy mistakes. So, rather than address the structural problems that the financial collapse and ensuing recession revealed, governments mostly kicked the can down the road, creating major downside risks that made another crisis inevitable.

And now that it has arrived, the risks are growing even more acute. Unfortunately, even if the Greater Recession leads to a lackluster U-shaped recovery this year, an L-shaped “Greater Depression” will follow later in this decade...

The first trend concerns deficits and their corollary risks: debts and defaults.

The policy response to the COVID-19 crisis entails a massive increase in fiscal deficits — on the order of 10% of GDP or more — at a time when public debt levels in many countries were already high, if not unsustainable... the loss of income for many households and firms means that private-sector debt levels will become unsustainable, too, potentially leading to mass defaults and bankruptcies. Together with soaring levels of public debt, this all but ensures a more anemic recovery than the one that followed the Great Recession a decade ago.

A second factor is the demographic time bomb in advanced economies.

The coronavirus crisis shows that much more public spending must be allocated to health systems, and that universal health care and other relevant public goods are necessities, not luxuries. Yet, because most developed countries have aging societies, funding such outlays in the future will make the implicit debts from today’s unfunded health-care and social-security systems even larger.

A third issue is the growing risk of deflation.

In addition to causing a deep recession, the crisis is also creating a massive slack in goods (unused machines and capacity) and labor markets (mass unemployment), as well as driving a price collapse in commodities such as oil and industrial metals. That makes debt deflation likely, increasing the risk of insolvency.

A fourth (related) factor will be currency debasement.

As central banks try to fight deflation and head off the risk of surging interest rates (following from the massive debt build-up), monetary policies will become even more unconventional and far-reaching. In the short run, governments will need to run monetized fiscal deficits to avoid depression and deflation. Yet, over time, the permanent negative supply shocks from accelerated de-globalization and renewed protectionism will make stagflation all but inevitable...

The coming Greater Depression of the 2020s

Now, your response to this was as follows:
Interesting, prophecy against prophecy I see....given that someone has posted about this a few days ago, what they posted was very much in line with a number of other prophecies that have been heard....also what they convey falls in line with something that has been laid on my heart over the last few months.....(opposite to what you convey ) ... I sense that YOU yourself lay behind some of the words, and not God ........anyway, the test of anything given will be time ........... I am sure you are aware of what it says in scripture about proclaiming something as being from God, that isn’t............ I don’t mean to cause offense in anyway, but cannot just sit here and say nothing x
Rita

You are still echoing that last statement, which means your position hasn't changed (Btw, what's with all the dots? LoL).

But my response is this. Since I quoted the above sources to confirm and strengthen the position I presented in the OP, because Selveraj, Joyner, Chapple, Roubini, and Rackards all agree with what I am saying, if I lay behind the words and not God, are you not passing the same judgment upon them?

I will be posting on this thread through next year likely, because I will be following the issue. But if I post additional quotes from prophets who agree (or agreed) with the message, would you not be passing the same judgment on them, insinuating that they are likewise "false prophets"? If I post additional articles or videos from economists who foresee the same things that I do coming, will you not be passing judgment on them, that they are just greed-hungry, and trying to take advantage of people? They all stand in agreement with one another.
