I don't pray to the cross or the picture or the post-it notes. They are just a good reminder.

Why do you need reminders?

I've never had to resort to looking at pictures and trinkets to remind me of the God I worship.

I don't get it....

Jesus never knelt before images.
Once again. Selective quoting and not answering all the questions.

I don't recall me or anyone else on this discussion board saying he did.

I thought you were ready and willing to have a conversation. I guess I was wrong.

Got it. Everyone must be like you to be a good and true Christian. Where does it say that in scripture?

You implied it when you said the pope was imitating Jesus when he knelt in prayer. The pope was kneeling to an image, Jesus never did that.

Am I wrong?

actually what i'm doing is making random statements, and then when they set you off i know that i am on the right track. Of course the earthly king thing is a foregone conclusion, but i understand that having been raised with lies, it can be impossible for you to see the truth.
Your just spewing lies now.
NOWHERE is the Pope revered as "King" because only Christ is King.
Show me documentation to prove your moronic charge or admit that you made it up.

I've never stated that I thought the individual catholic was stupid. Misguided yes, stupid no. If the material I post makes you uncomfortable, you should ask yourself why.
Doesn't make me uncomfortable at ALL.
Your lies should make YOU uncomfortable, however, because you'll be judged harshly for them.

this is what happens when you go to the world to have your Bible interpreted for you. You are aware that deprogramming from your cult is often paid for by insurance now, right? Iow you don't have to die an emotionally spoiled 4 year old if you don't want to.
HUH??
What on earth does this have to do with my response to ScottA??

Either pay attention to the conversation or stay out of it . . .

Deuteronomy 4
2 You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.
Telling lies about Christ's Church on a discussion forum = the manifestation of evil . . .

Prov. 12:22
"Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD"

Jesus never knelt before images.
Everybody who knelt to pray in the Temple knelt before images.
Doesn't mean they worshiped them - just as Catholics don't worship them.

First of all - Peter IS the subject of what Jesus was speaking about in Matt. 16:16-19.
It starts out with a recognition of the fact that the truth about Jesus was revealed by God.

Jesus then goes on to bless Peter - not one, not two - but THREE times:
(a) "Blessed are you Simon Bar-Jonah,"
(b) "You are Kepha and on this Kepha, I will build my church."
(c) "I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven."
Okay...this is the big problem:
  1. Jesus asked all his disciples about who people said He was.
  2. Peter had the correct answer.
  3. And our Father in heaven was accredited for how the answer came to Peter.
  • The subject was: “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?” (Christ).
  • The compound (secondary) subject was how Christ would build His church.
  • The means by which His church would be built was stated to be specifically NOT by "flesh and blood" (eliminating Peter and all men), but as "revealed" by "My Father in heaven."
  • Which leaves Peter...simply "blessed."
As for the power to bind and loose - yes, Jesus gave it later to ALL of the Apostles.
HOWEVER, only Peter was given the Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven. This clearly illustrates the point of his Primacy over the others.
Not in light of the true subject, compound subject, and means (above).
Jesus stated that the greatest would SERVE all of the others (Matt. 23:11, Luke 22:26) - just as HE served all of them.
That's why the official title of the Pope is: "The servant of the servants of God"
If that were true...the first Pope should have been John the baptist:
Matthew 11:11
“Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

Yes, once again you are wrong. Here is what I said: You posted a picture of the Pope kneeling in prayer. Jesus knelt in prayer.

The Pope was kneeling in front of an image and praying.
He was not praying TO an image as you have stated. IMO your statement is not factual and dishonesty oozes from the pours of your skin and the words you write.

The word image is NOT in what I wrote.
I await your apology.

Luke 6:13
"And when it was day, He called His disciples to Himself;and from them He chose twelve whom He also named apostles:"
And I ask you again:
When did Jesus EVER call Peter, "Apostle."

YOU stated the following:
"No. Jesus gave him the title of "apostle"...nothing more."

Jesus gave Simon the title of "Kepha".
I even proved it by showing you that Paul refers to him as "Cephas" in his letters.
NOT Simon
NOT "Petros"
He calls him "CEPHAS" because it is the closest transliteration of the Aramaic "KEPHA", which means "ROCK".
You are not paying attention - it is quoted above.

Never said that.

I said I don't need reminders of God.

If you need constant reminders to worship God...
I am glad we agree.

If a person looks at an image while they are praying they are no less a Christian than you are.

We can finally move on.
