Hello all
I remember seeing a list the other week that had the score on how conservative some Democratic politicians were or were not.
I lost the link it, but I think it showed 2 or 3 Democrats that were in fact "conservative." And there may have been a few more. I remember one even having on his websites policies that he was pretty pro-family and against Abortion, don't remember what state he was in though.
I am just putting it out there though, because I know there are a lot of Americans on these forums. And if I was voting in America in one of those electorates where they still have a conservative Democrat sitting. I would probably be trying to keep thosr conservative Democrats in, to protect that minority in the Democratic Party, and not let it go completely left.
It's kind of funny though, you are supposed to vote for the person in Australia, you would preference who you would prefer when you vote, but still a lot of people vote on what the majority of the party is and their policies, when a candidate might hold different views to the majority of their political party's views.
A lot of Christians in Australia will tell you "Vote Liberal" and it's been that way for the 2 decades maybe. But now it's at the point where the Australian Liberal party is more of a centre party and even has large left wing parts of it, before Scott Morrison, the Liberal Party even had a far left leader Malcolm Turnbull.
There are still a few conservative Liberals in Aus, and the Labor party is all left wing. I could not name one conservative Labor politician, Pat Dodson is probably about as centre as it gets for the Labor Party, because at least he stood against Euthanasia.
