Also John 12:18 reveals ours is an evidence based faith
That was the reason so many went out to meet him—because they had heard about this miraculous sign. (hearing witness accounts is evidence)

Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples. (proof is evidence at a high standard)

Why are witnesses called into court? Why is perjury (false witness) a constraint on speech? To establish the evidential foundation to believe what is true. There is truth and what you believe is truth. The connection is evidence. Logic is based on belief. The syllogism's start with believing something is true, then proceeding from there. And what about the logical treatment of the absence of evidence?

The null hypothesis is the logical treatment of believing in something due to the lack of evidence. Therefore, believe is inescapable and not maladaptive.

Sorry @Wrangler a belief doesn't mean it's true. It could be true is the best that you can achieve, but if you achieved that you'd stop using the word belief.
