Luke 21:32-36 (KJV)
32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.
33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
Im a bit confounded. With all thats to take place before the Day of the Lord how can you not see it coming? Am i reading this wrong? Just what is a "snare"? Not lookin to argue. Lookin for answers
Luke 21:29
"And He spake to them a parable; "Behold the fig tree, and all the trees:"
This is a parable where by people are represented as trees. Ezekiel 31:18 draws our attention that the trees are pointing to the trees of the Garden of Eden, where the tree of life is Jesus Christ; and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, which is Satan in his role as the serpent. So because Jesus mentions the "fig tree", do you understand the parable of the fig tree? Jesus warned us in Matthew 24:32 "Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:"
It is very important that you understand this parable of the fig tree, and to draw attention to this fig tree, Christ walked up to one fig tree and cursed it, and caused it to die instantly. Why, He wanted to show us that Jeremiah 24 was fact. There are good figs and there are bad figs, The good figs are very good and the bad figs are very bad. The subject in Jeremiah is Jerusalem, and who will inhabit it in that last days of this earth age. We are living in those days when both the good and bad figs are in Jerusalem; for Jesus went on to say:
Matthew 24:34, 35 "Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled." "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall not pass away."
You don't plant a fig tree with a seed, but you plant it with a shoot. You set it out.
Luke 21:30 "When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand."
This is talking about that time when the house of Judah the good figs would move back into Jerusalem, and right along with them would come those bad figs, Satan's children, the Kenites. They would establish a nation there in the old Palestine, and this is what happened in May 7, of 1948 under the Balfour agreement of the United Nations. Most of the conflict today is the fact that the Arab nations will not recognize the Jews right to exist, and posses Jerusalem, and there are people dying in the streets of Jerusalem over that fact. This is a sign of the final generation.
The good and bad figs are there now, with Satan on His way to take charge in Jerusalem. Expect it, and Jesus said that we are the generation that shall see all the signs of the end times, before our generation comes to an end. We are fifty years into the end time generation. Most of the events of the end times are history to us living today. Those prophesies happened exactly as they were written. In "summer time" the harvest takes place, and the destination of the crop depends on what that fruit is. The point is that the good grain is separated from the tares, and the good grains are stored, and the bad tares are burned. If you think that you can play Satan's comes, and be his harlot, you will be separated at the time of our Lord's coming.
Luke 21:31 "So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is night at hand."
We know that the end time is very near.
Luke 21:32 "Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled."
Above we stated this same statement from Matthew 24:34, and this is a second witness to that fact. The wise in the end times understand the season, but not the day, hour or moment, for nobody know that except the Father. The season started many years ago, so don't pay attention to the specific times, but to the events that are named in this chapter. Our generation will not pass until all these events are fulfilled; and you can count on that.
Luke 21:33 "Heaven and earth shall pass away: but My words shall not pass away."
This is another witness to Matthew 24:25. You just don't waste time studying the Word of God, because it will never change. This is the only written word that remains true through all the ages.
Luke 21:34 "And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares."
We are told to be very careful concerning ourselves, that the cares of our life don't distract us from these events that are going on around us. It is easy to let sickness, and financial problems take over our thoughts all the time, and fall away from His Word. Don't fall asleep spiritually at this time in your life. In the term: "overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness" is a medical term used for the nausea that comes after drunkenness, from where we get the Latin word "crapula" also meaning a hang-over. Paul addressed this in Romans 11, when he talked about the stupor that would come over the people. Though they are away, their eyes and mind is fixed and they can't see the truth if it was right before them.
Romans 11:7, 8 "What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded (According as it is written, "God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should to see, and ears that they should not hear"; unto this day."
The truth could be right in front of them with their preacher spelling it out, but they just cannot understand it. God can seal the truth away from someone for their own good, for it they knew the truth, and then bowed to Satan there would be no forgiveness for them. A sin done in ignorance is not accountable to the charge of the soul. Our Heavenly Father is full of mercy.
Luke 21:35 "For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth."
The "snare" is a trap.
Romans 11:9 "And David saith, "Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumbling block, and a recompense unto them: Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway."
If you were expecting a trap right in front of you, you would make sure you would not step into it, but if you did not know that snare and trap was there, you would walk right into it with eyes wide open. This coming of Satan and the deceptions that come over the earth will be very unexpected. When you hears rumors, and things happening that are drawing you to Satan, that he is here, why would you put yourself into that temptation. Those that don't know the truth of these end times will actually think that Satan is Jesus and will run to him. They will be proud to say that they are Satan's whore, though they will not word it that way. And the things that they do and say for Satan, they will be thinking all the time that they are doing it for Christ. Through their own traditions, they will set their own traps and fall right into the pit they prepared. They just did not study enough to know the difference between Jesus and Satan, yet they call themselves Christians. The trials and temptations are coming, and Jesus told you in the eighth verse; "Take heed that no man deceive you by any means." They will be coming and telling you that Christ sent them. In their minds Satan is Christ. The Holy Spirit will open your eyes as to which are from God, and those that are from Satan.
