It is commonly understood that when unfiltered water is placed in a clear plastic bottle, and left in sunlight for 8 hours, the UV rays will kill off bacteria and viruses in the water, making it safe to drink.
However, if you plan to experiment, please find a reputable source for the correct process for disinfecting water by the Sun doing so!

I am not defending Trump here. I am just focussing on the mix up in his word use.
What does that matter if he was only being sarcastic "just to see what would happen"?

The news media spinned it, and than ran with it.
How did they spin it? Here's what he said...

"And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning, because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it’d be interesting to check that, so that you’re going to have to use medical doctors with, but it sounds interesting to me."

All I've seen the media report is that he suggested injecting disinfectants might help with the virus. And that's exactly what he did, right?

Of course now that he's said he was just being sarcastic, maybe it doesn't matter and we should instead be talking about how inappropriate it is for a President to deliberately troll the media and the public in the midst of a pandemic that's killed over 50,000 Americans?

UV rays are a disinfectant!
And you never mispoke on anything that you say live, without rehearsal or editing?

So you're saying he misspoke, even though he's very clearly said he was being sarcastic "just to see what would happen"? Was he lying then when he said that (about being sarcastic)?

And there you are interpreting trumps words erroneously!
He did not say "disinfectants".

In reference to "light", Trump said:
"And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in one minute.

And that matters how?

You keep dodging the point....why does any of this matter if he was being sarcastic "just to see what would happen"? Was he lying then when he said that (about being sarcastic)?

Look, we all know that when it comes to Trump shooting from the hip with words, the elevator doesn't go all the way to the top.
Most of us do know, that in any kind of public briefing, its very easy to misappropriate and misspeak.
So when such a situation occurs, the best that anyone can do is formulate a reason of how such an issue came to pass.
The inteligent and humble explanation would be: " I misspoke".

Unfortunately, to attribute a misspoken word or sentence to be "sarcasm", it's just more misspeak from a person who is not humble enough to admitt error in themselves.

Indeed. If he had said he misspoke, everyone would have shut up.

He didn't "misspeak" when he asked that question. Even Chris Cuomo's own wife (The whole family had C-19, including their son) has said that she puts a half-cup of Clorox in her bathwater for medicinal purposes.
He just got sloppy when he tried to use his comments to dig at the Media.

Cristina Cuomo: Experts, Clorox itself warn against bleach baths

Aaaaaand the story changes yet again. Trump tweets out...

"Was just informed that the Fake News from the Thursday White House Press Conference had me speaking & asking questions of Dr. Deborah Birx. Wrong, I was speaking to our Laboratory expert, not Deborah, about sunlight etc. & the CoronaVirus. The Lamestream Media is corrupt & sick!"
So he was sarcastically trolling his own "Laboratory expert"?

That's the thing about liars...they often have trouble keeping their stories straight.

Not exactly a quality I look for in a President.

Yup. The more he keeps going on about it the worse it gets.

That's a bit different than what you said yesterday.

"I don't think there is much of a mystery to the "I was being sarcastic" remark. He was probably just poking at the Media as he always does, telling them he suckered them in once more and they went for his bait again.
All of it is a little childish to me, but that seems to be the Bronx touting these guys thrive on."

One has nothing to do with the other. I brought Christina Cuomo up because it shows the idea of using the medicinal properties of a disinfectant is not that far-fetched. Even one of Trump's enemies is trying it.

Yesterday you embraced his "I was being sarcastic" line ("He was probably just poking at the Media as he always does") but today it's "He didn't "misspeak" when he asked that question".

Putting those two together would be "He was poking at the media, and he didn't misspeak when he did so"? o_O

She got that advice from a crackpot according to a story run by the Washington Examiner. Bleach is not good for your skin. You probably shouldn't be doing that although a little bit in a bath might not do much. It certainly won't do anything for a virus found in your lungs.

Don't bathe in bleach and absolutely do not inject it

Cristina Cuomo, who is not a medical doctor or licensed health professional of any kind, doubled down on her absurd assertion that taking a bleach bath could in any way help during the coronavirus.

On Thursday, Cuomo, who has taken a number of scientifically unproven but likely innocuous "treatments" for the coronavirus, wrote, "Both days, I added 1/2 cup of Clorox to my bathwater to combat the radiation and metals in my system and oxygenate it."

By the evening, she had stealth edited the section and somehow made it even more scientifically illiterate.

"We want to neutralize heavy metals because they slow-up the electromagnetic frequency of our cells, which is our energy field, and we need a good flow of energy," Cuomo wrote. "Clorox is sodium chloride--which is technically salt. There is no danger in doing this. It is a simple naturopathic treatment that has been used for over 75 years to oxygenate the cells."

(Fact check: Clorox absolutely is not just "technically salt," and medical professionals have advised not to use bleach on skin during the coronavirus as it corrupts the body's natural physical defenses and unnecessarily dries out the skin.)

Brother, JaD, are you (and a few others here) so blinded by your fanatical hatred that you have lost all reasoning power?
Let me type r-e-a-l --- s-l-o-w-l-y, so maybe you can finally get it.

I think Trump was completely TOTALLY serious (though uneducated in medicine) when he asked the original question.

The Media went crazy.

So he came back with that silliness of "Just being sarcastic" to, in his mind, laugh at them for being the fools they usually are, making him front page news... AGAIN (his ultimate goal whenever he engages with them.) when what they went wild over was nothing more than a small, inconsequential, meaningless side-conversation with his staff of doctors.

Nothing more, nothing less.

I don't think he was ever being sarcastic..... He just saw a great opportunity to laugh at the herd mentality of people he believes will predictably react whenever he wants them to. (The Media)… and continue to keep him front and center on every single Cable News Program. As long as they are talking about him, they will not laud his opponents. The Dems get almost no air time because The Media is too busy talking about him. That is exactly what they did all through the last election, and it helped make him President.

Even when that poor lost wanderer, Biden, does get on the air, he is almost always doing little more than answering questions about Trump.

I think it is all kind of stupid playground games on both their parts, but both sides seem to love it, and I doubt it will stop until his second term is completed. None of them want it to.

I see. So at the national briefing he was just asking his medical experts an honest question, because he truly didn't know whether injecting disinfectants would help with the virus. Then when a lot of people were dismayed at him not knowing that, he lied and said he was just being sarcastic, because he knew the media would report that story (him being the President and all).

And now he and his supporters are sitting back, having a good laugh at the whole circus.

If that's the sort of behavior his supporters like so much in a President they want four more years of it, all I can say is....we are on completely different planets.
