What you seem not to see or chose to cherry pick around, is that Jesus said He was given eternal life by His Father, and He in turn will give eternal life to His people. So the glorified sons of God will also have inherit life just as Jesus have inherit life. Angels on the other hand only have immortal life, which means they don't have inherit life.
It's the Father who gave Jesus eternal life or inherent life.
John 5:26 (ASV)
26 For as the Father hath life in himself,
even so gave he to the Son also to have life in himself:
The children of God will be partakers of the Divine Nature of God.
2 Peter 1:4 (KJV)
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be
partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
You are not "
rightly dividing the word of God", you are mixing the reward of the Church (the "
crown of life", the divine nature, immortality) with that which mankind will receive. Yes its true Christ will bestow life upon mankind, that he will raise the dead, but the life they receive is not the same as the reward given the Church (which is referred to in the text you cited,
2 Pet 1:4). He intends to restore, to give back to them that which was lost through father Adam's sin, and what was it that exactly, why it was perfect human life and dominion over all the earth. Adam was never promised any spiritual reward, he was simply told what not to do, and if he did right he would continue to have access to the trees of life and live forever.
The Church does not receive life from Christ, their life, the new nature in them comes directly from the Father, they are begotten of the Father not the Son. Christ will be the life giver of the world, thus one of the titles given him is, "
The Everlasting Father", that is, of mankind.
In Revelation 21:4 we read "
There will be no more death."
This scripture is absolute, positive.
There will never again be ANY DEATH OF ANY KIND!
Does this mean man will be immortal?
NO! Only God, Jesus and the Church will be immortal, which means they will have life within themselves (
life inherent) -- not dependent on any external sustenance such as food, oxygen, etc.
Mankind although in possession of eternal life will
NOT BE IMMORTAL, they will always require food and oxygen, thus they are not death proof or immortal. However, once having passed their test, because it was God who promised that they would have everlasting life,
Luke 20:36 will be true - "
neither can they die anymore," - in the sense that God has promised it, and His promise cannot be broken - He cannot lie.
