Who’s faith?

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Your faith sir. God lays the choice of life or death to humans, if you choose life, you agree to do your utmost to live up to the requirements. If you choose not to live up to God's rules for His people, then you have chosen death.

No one earns salvation, and false faith of course don't get it either. Life is a gift from God, given to those who choose to stand on His side of the issue.

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
The faith of the one who hopes for the right things according to God is saved!

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."Heb 11:1

What do we not see?
What do we see?

Where is the eyesalve?

"I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see." Rev 3:18

Faith can be ours or the Lords gift.

1 Corinthians 12:8-11

8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

Christ earned and merited our salvation and all graces by His life death and resurrection!

since we are members of Christ we too can merit

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Eph 1:1 answers WHO’S faith.

[1] Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:

Saints are believers IN God, given Gods gift of Faith.
^ These can Fall from Faith, stop believing, stop receiving Faith from God, stop being “WITH” God, God stop being “WITH” them.

IN Christ Jesus are Converted believers, given Gods gift of Faith.
^ These can Never Fall from Faith, They are Kept forever Receiving Faith, by the Power of the Holy Spirit “IN” them, They forever “WITH” the Lord God. God forever “WITH” them.

Well to be resurrected is only Jesus and Heavenly Fathers to provide. So the saving faith is Jesus'.

“not of yourselves” so it’s not our faith

In context, Paul was speaking TO; people in Ephesus, WHO ARE saints and WHO are faithful IN Christ Jesus.

Any man can receive Gods Gift of Faith, by Hearing the Word of God.

Rom 10:
[17] So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

“Not of yourselves” means:
Gods Gift of Faith, is NOT given men for a mans Works.
Hearing is NOT a mans Works.
The Faith given a man IS a Gift, to the man. Yes the gift is the mans.

Mary was “without”
Mary “received faith from God.”
God was “with” Mary.
Mary “received the Holy Spirit”.
God Spirit was “with and in” Mary.

Nothing phenomenal...Nothing secret...it’s the same Order and Way of every person who becomes Converted IN Christ, while alive in their flesh.
There is a whole BOOK about Gods Order and Way...that identifies people by name who, same as Mary, became Converted IN Christ.
AND BTW, there are millions of people, whose names do not appear in that BOOK (ie the Bible)....
But No Worries...God Himself has some Record BOOKS. :)

The "that" (τοῦτο) cannot refer back to "faith" (πίστεως) in this verse. τοῦτο is a neuter pronoun, while πίστεως is a feminine noun, and the grammatical rule is that the gender of the pronoun has to match the referent. Instead, the referent is the entire abstract concept, "salvation by grace through faith" That is what is the gift of God.

Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.

"That not of ourselves" isn't referring to faith, its referring to the grace we get through faith. Furthermore, the gift of God is grace, not faith.

Who's faith? That is answered earlier in the epistle:

Ephesians 1:15 KJV
Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,

The faith of Jesus is also mentioned:

Ephesians 3:12 KJV
In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.

Not "her", by the way... Just saying. This could mean easily the its the faith in him, not necessarily it being his (Jesus's) faith. But either way I can see as correct. He did have faith and in 1:15 we have faith.

Furthermore, lets talk about the gift of God:

Ephesians 3:7 KJV
Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.

Ephesians 4:7 KJV
But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

So grace (and by extension, its not of ourselves) is the gift. Nowhere in Ephesians (or anywhere else in the NT, that I can see) is faith called the gift of/from God.

You can believe what you want sir, the fact is you will answer for yourself. Best to live the faith now, because if you are still choosing to go your own way thinking you are saved now, you are going to find a sad outcome at Jesus' return 2 Thes 1:6-9

Or it would be works!

I can’t confess either that would be works

Romans 10:10
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
