Ethical question

I have an ethical question. I have an unsaved friend who's having her wedding on Halloween. They're doing a themed wedding with the blood splattered wedding dress, doll head decor, the groom dressed as Michael, etc. She thinks it's hilarious and doesn't understand the implications of what she's doing. I naturally don't want to come into agreement with death. Is there any way to watch them get married without coming into agreement? If not, how do I handle the "no"?

One aspect of an invitation to a wedding is to witness the covenant they make with each other. Another is to participate in their joy.

I just mean how do I tell her I can't attend.

You could come from an angle explaining that the motive of death is in conflict with the principle of life and joy which marriage is a promise of?

I wouldn't say No. Halloween has no meaning in this life. It is not as bad as Christ visiting with the Scribes and Pharisees. as well as the harlots and sinners. Go to the wedding is my advice. Let her know that such trivial things as you listed above are irrelevant. She is not suppose to act like a Christian, so show her that love does not get offended by her actions. Always stay willing to witness to her. Whatever you do, make sure you don't make an issue of sin, all unbelievers have been redeemed according to Peter and John. She will not go to hell because she is a sinner. She will go to hell only by rejecting God's offer of salvation.

In high school a friend came up to me at the town fair and asked for money to help him run away from home. I may have just not had the money to spare...but I told him, "I'll help you get out of trouble, but I won't help you get into it."

After he was back home after the runaway ordeal, he must have told his father what I said...'cause he called and offered me a well needed job at his business...and my friend and I remained friends.

I recommend you pray, then give your friend a hug and tell her, "I will go to your wedding, and I will go to your funeral...but I won't be celebrating death at either." Then, let the chips fall where God wills.
