There is a thought in Christianity that we are saved by the cross, that is true. But it is what happened at the cross that saves you. What happened at the cross? I don't believe man will ever know completely what Jesus did at the cross. But what happened at the cross was Christ crucified the old man nature. In Christ every human being that is born into this world is dead, all in Adam the scripture says is dead in Christ. So being in Christ as a believer is the place to be so to say. If you remain in Adam you remain with a sin nature.
Now you have to look at what happened in the garden, the fall in the garden. When Adam and Eve believed the lieing spirit and ate from the tree they received a knowledge that separated them from God (the scripture ''let every man be a lier, for God is true" comes to mind). How is every man a lier? By their lieing nature, how does God save you? by exchanging the lieing death nature of the human being. They go from a lieing death life to life life in Christ. They go from a sinning satanic nature (the murder from the beginning) to the nature of God which is in Christ. There is a lot of people that have a hard time with that understanding because it sounds to radical, satanic nature. My first thought about those people is; how will they explain the deprived debaucherous existence of mankind on this Earth I and where it comes from. Science has tried since mankind has been present on this Earth and they can't do it. They can deal with only the acts of the nature such as; you cannot see nature you can only see it's manifestations which is "The works of the flesh" scripture says.
When I was in prison ministry full time, I used to talk to mother's or family members of inmates. What I heard was; he was a good boy he just got in with the wrong crowd. They may have been true, but the truth is they were born with a satanic death life nature and sin comes from the nature. I don't know if we have watched too much Hollywood showing us what the devil would look like or what but we cannot get it fixed in us where sin comes from. So when I hear a mother say he was a good boy now, I have to know it is because they were made in the image and likeness of God. But they received the wrong nature in the beginning from Adam.
Man was not created with a nature spirit life, man was created a living soul and that soul was in the image and likeness of God. Man was to receive a nature in time but Adam chose the wrong nature. We know that now because Adam was able to recieve a nature so it was in the plan of God. He was even warned do not partake of the tree. Sinning Adam by nature is now dead in Christ, and for mankind to have life they must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for the only salvation known to mankind.
