Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

While many could now read the Bible, and claim to have faith, still Christians seems to have different understanding of what faith is. So, I think this is a good and very important topic.

There could be no better place to know what faith means as spoken in scriptures than in scriptures. Hebrews 11:1 tells us a lot about what faith is.

Firstly, faith is the substance of things hoped for.

hypostasis = substance, reality,

elpizomenōn = things hoped for

Secondly, faith is evidence of things not seen.

elenchos = evidence, proof
