I think the answer to part of your question @devin53344 about "what was he was doing" is the last verse in John.

"Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written."

I read other books too and I know the Bible would just be too big.

The whole point is that Christ's body had gone and nobody had moved it.

Joseph of Arimathea moved His body. It was in all four gospels.

John 19:38

"38 After these things, Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus, though a secret one because of his fear of the Jews, asked Pilate to let him take away the body of Jesus. Pilate gave him permission; so he came and removed his body."

Jesus' tomb is a subject of speculation and debate. No one knows its location really.

I am going to look around in the "lost books" and see if I can find anything. So far I looked in the letters between Herod and Pilate and they don't seem to say where either.

Many good Youtube videos on this subject. Serious analysis and video of locations and the merits behind each one. Look for the video on what Jerusalem looked liked (3D animation) at the time of the crucifixion. It's difficult to visualize the Church of the Holy Sepulcher as it was during 33 AD. The Church was basically built over the crucifixion and burial location. The Garden Tomb is a possibility but scripture and historical documents make it less likely IMHO.

After Jesus rose from the dead, the angel told Mary that Jesus was on his way to Galilee. She caught up with him and he told her to tell the disciples to meet with him in Galilee. He met with his disciples later that night. We're trying to figure out the distance from the tomb to Galilee to see how he got there so fast.

You may be a little confused about this matter. The disciples were in Jerusalem and that is where Christ met them after His resurrection. They were still in Jerusalem when Christ appeared to Thomas and the others a week later.

It was only later on that they traveled back to Galilee, where Christ met them again and spent 40 days teaching them many things. During that time Peter took seven of them to go fishing and Christ met them at the Sea of Galilee also, and prepared breakfast for them. Then they all assembled near Jerusalem again before His ascension. After that they returned to Jerusalem to await the day of Pentecost.

I was all of the way confused. But this makes all of the way more sense

Joseph removed Jesus' body from the cross. I thought we were talking about after the burial?

I agree this is how it reads in John but I'm confused.

Because look at Matthew 28:

7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”

8 So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9 Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”

From the way I read the rest, he met with those to disciples as they were walking and then they also joined with the 11 apostles.

None of the gospels give the whole story (if they did, they would have ended up way too long....)
Matthew leaves out the Jerusalem appearances and so gives the impression that they all went straight to Galilee.
There were 40 days between the Resurrection and the Ascension, during which Jesus appeared to His disciples many times and in various places (Acts 1:3).

That sounds right, @Deborah_ . I apologize. My error. :)

I don't think that would be accurate for a few reasons.

1. Mary had to go catch up with him.
2. Mary had to go back to the apostles to tell him to meet up with him in Galilee, because he was on his way.
3. Whether or not Jesus could just "show up", the apostles themselves would have had to walk to Galilee to meet him. Jesus was already on his way there.

read the gospels after his crucifixtion. There several accounts of Jesus just appearing and disappearing.

Having finished the task for which he came to earth for he no longer had to limit his powers.
He could appear where ever he wanted to and didn't have to walk there.
