ahhhh, If I have it right, you must belong to the never eating breakfast collective. I wonder what that means? Cheaper grocery bills? Less wear and tear on shoe leather? Less toilet paper? More for lunch? ....and last but not least, a third as much farting? :contemplate:
I eat one meal a day: dinner. I skip breakfast and lunch, although I will snack on carrot sticks or something similar throughout the day. I'm diabetic, so I have to watch what I eat.

OK Acts 11 - Please excuse the delay, we are preparing to move house so timing is tricky.

So the Holy Spirit was seen to be moving among the gentiles - unthinkable to the Jew.

Notice Peter sees the vision three times - denied three times - was affirmed by the risen Jesus three times. So the message from our triune God to share the Good News with the Gentiles came as a shock and needed undeniable confirmation.

Note the dispersion due to the persecution around the stoning of Stephen combined with the Holy Spirit moving beyond the Jewish world resulted in a rapid growth given that the Gospel was now for all mankind.

Note how Paul and Barnabas spent a whole year in the midst of the revival, committed to encouraging and teaching those impacted by this fresh breath of God.

So the Church spreads not just in Word but in deed (v29,30) Practical help for those vulnerable to the intense demands that famine brings - and on the weight of a Prophetic Word.

Some will know that in 70's, prophetic insight indicated a major emigration of Jews from Russia was to come, and believers in Scandinavia even added extra rooms on their houses to cope with the migration to come. Many living in Israel today were accommodated and assisted by Gentile Christians during the long journey.

Oh that in this day, believers would extend God's Love to all mankind again and cross the racial barriers set up by a corrupt world.

But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. Acts 11:9
What is impossible for God?
And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible." Mark 10:37

Hullo again folks,

Very little response to the last episode - I will carry on if there is enough interest.

Feedback appreciated.

If Acts is not holding interest - we could do Romans or Galatians of whatever folks would like to tackle...

We are in the middle of moving at the moment.

Don't give up or quit on us my friend! We need more of this type of edifying threads and fewer of the so many others. Give God the glory!

Have you considered that your sleep may be less restful because your body is working at digesting your evening meal? Also, could you have less energy during the day because you skip breakfast? Food for thought?

Who says I have less energy during the day? I sleep fine, I wake up every morning at 6:00 I workout for about 45 minutes, take a shower and off to work. I'm a letter carrier who walks 15 miles a day in the elements. When I get home, I workout for another 45 minutes, make dinner for me and the family and take it easy the rest of the evening.

OK team - 20 days and no response but we crack on...

Note how Anti-Christ the Jews were (as today many are) - the murder of prominent Saints pleased them.

Then Peter himself taken, imprisoned was headed for public execution.

However the Church prayed...

Angelic support was released.

Reminds me of the pastors in Colombia all getting the same vision of angels leaning on their swords and after coming together for prayer and fasting were told "they are leaning on their swords because you are giving them nothing to do" !!!

Notice the chains fell off - they had lost their metal strength - such is angelic authority.

So Peter is released and returns to where the believers were praying - and the servant girl Rhonda opens the door. I love that her humble action is recorded for ever more in Scripture.

In contrast the prideful Herod is met with an angelic sentence of death - he touched the Lord's anointed.

So the purpose of God for the Church prevailed - Peter was central to that plan - his time had not yet come (just as Jesus avoided being taken before the purpose of the Cross.)

And the Word of the God increased and multiplied.

Notice this was the principle aim - the proclamation of the very Word of God.

Interesting that Paul wasn't released.
Paul refused to obey two prophetic words warning him to not go to Jerusalem for a 3rd time. I believe he was supposed to go to Rome as a free man preaching the gospel as he had been doing. But this time he forsook the grace of God which he himself warned the Galatians about . Telling them NOT to go back to the "gospel OF the circumcision" (a mixture of law and grace) while Paul preached the pure "gospel OF the uncircumcision."

Gal 5:4 You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace.

He went to Jerusalem and obeyed the apostles who were worried about all the "Jews who believed, BUT WERE ZEALOUS FOR THE LAW."

Act 21:20 And when they heard it, they glorified God. And they said to him, “You see, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews of those who have believed. They are all zealous for the law,

He got arrested because he never should have listened to James and the elders, which led to his arrest. Several times, in the prison epistles, Paul references the belief that he would get out of prison, but that never happened.

Yes, I agree, he should not have returned to Jerusalem, and having returned, he should not have taken the vow so he could "prove" to James that he kept the Law still.

I've noticed there was not fruit from Paul's ministry recorded to his account from the time he was arrested until he was on his way to Rome.

Much love!

I'm going to say, in OUR bibles, I bet WE BOTH have a lot of highlights in Paul's prison epistles. :shine:

Thanks for your comments guys...

I am reminded that a prophetic word often signifies an opportunity and doesn't guarantee an outcome.

It can also be a warning and doesn't guarantee obedience.

OK time to take up the study again.

Life has been super busy but my wife and I are in Melbourne now for a break.

Here we go...

Acts 12 - have a read and feed back what comes to you.

This is an amazing chapter.

Our God is good beyond measure.

I'm hurt that I wasn't tagged.
