we are advised 'by their fruits you shall know them' - mention is made again and again about the gifts of the Spirit and inspiration/guidance/indwelling but no mention about the fruits now or after all these centuries - twinc

ya, i noticed, and i guess our definitions of "fruit" are even diffuse?
The concept is made rather nebulous in the Description, somehow, despite its being concretely described, "love, joy, hope" etc.
We even witness these being scoffed at, quite often, even by "believers" sometimes

I did not ask about the fruits of the Holy Spirit but the fruits of those claiming now and over the centuries inspiration/guidance and indwelling by the Holy Spirit - twinc

I have no idea what I have made bold, means? o_O
What are you trying to say here?

We all know the scripture - " the fruit of the Spirit IS love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith etc."
It is God who does the work..these are His attributes....and the fruit that hangs on our life when we 'Abide in Him.'

Why? this is a 'pet peeve' of yours, we have this dance so many times before..you won't get any different answer this time either.
Anything to do with the Holy Spirit you mock and deride.
Have at it...have your fun.

It really depends on the church and the purpose of the surmon.
Not every sermon or bible study has to itemise every characteisc of what a Christian is and what a Christian lifestyle is.

true, but in twinc's defense it doesn't seem out of line to ask why someone would want to follow some sermon or study, i guess

it just struck me as kind of disingenuous, coming from someone no longer a babe?
"why no mention," did, iow. but perhaps that is his reality, in which case i apologize twinc. but also yikes.

Because no one wants to talk about the fruit, or they might be forced to examine the tree.

With the worlds definition of: love, joy, peace, goodness...we look for fruit and goodness in all the wrong places, fruit defined by the world, not by God. Our definition of LOVE alone is twisted. A momma coddles her grown child-man, supplying him with money for his addiction, paying his bills so he isn't homeless, doing his laundry so he doesn't smell, cooking his meals so he doesn't starve; and all this she does because her tender love is so grand for her child that "she can not bear the anxiety of watching him suffer." That is not love. Love would be tossing him out in the cold and bearing it, allowing him to be hungry and homeless...that he may be blessed with some revelation and growth that isn't dependent on his momma. Love is not smiling and "keeping peace" by telling a man that abuses his wife and children and hides a bottle of booze although you can smell it on his breath, telling him that he is a "good Godly man" therefore puffing up his sick ego even more. We suffer and bear truth to bring real freedom from the captivity of a lie. We do it for the other person. No one wants to talk about "you will know them by their fruit". We saw, and see the fruit of Christ. His display of "love" is far different than the worlds definition of love. Yet, we say we love God and love neighbor as we love ourselves. We love to "look" good while we pretend selfless loving acts that cost no skin, while the model was rejected for loves sake. Love is allowing suffering for the good of another and bearing it in your own skin.

the unbearable and unacceptable rotten results/fruits is attributed to inspiration/guidance/indwelling by the Holy Spirit and is not accepted as unforgiveable blasphemy which is what it really is - twinc

You need to be more careful how you express yourself, twinc. It sounds to me like you are saying that you blasphemed. After all it was you who was deciding what the Holy Spirit was or was not doing in and through other people.

how it sounds to the unsound is not the point - how it is is important - check it out for yourself ' by their fruits you shall know them' - twinc

And who my friend is it in the end who is to be unsound? Certainly if a person really has charity always in his walk with God and man he will be sound.

Who without charity can really recognize the fruits of the Spirit for what they are?

ignorance is no excuse or cover up - rotten fruits and Holy Spirit just do not compute on my computer - so it must be you or your compute that is faulty - twinc
