Great post, thanks.

So, true. I've had to make a conscious effort to be the father to my children that fits my view of God the Father.
If they want to talk to me, I give them my full attention. I show interest in what they like.

[
I was just remembering something that happened when I was a teen.
When I was hanging out with a friend at his house, I was complaining about my Dad.
My friend was being raised by a single mom, divorced from his father.
I was surprised when he told me he wished he had a dad.

What is God Like?

Jesus said...>"If you've seen me, you've seen the Father'..

Jesus said "I and my Father are One".

What was Jesus like?

"He went around at all times, doing Good".

He never refused a sick person.

He died for those who didnt and dont deserve it, so that they could be rejoined to God's Eternal Family.

And who doesn't deserve this mercy of God?

= All of us.

No human parent is perfect. (obviously)
Even if we nominated one, they would probably decline the designation. (in humbleness)

What about our heavenly parent, God the Father?

I love this parenthetical found in the Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (see bold)

Ephesians 3:14-15 AMPC
"For this reason [[a]seeing the greatness of this plan by which you are built together in Christ],
I bow my knees before the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 For Whom every family in heaven and on earth is named
[that Father from Whom all fatherhood takes its title and derives its name]."

In a recent topic title I asked:

Does God care more for himself than he cares for us?

In the Op I wrote this:

"The way some Christians talk about God, you would think so.

They tell us we are unacceptable to God. That it is only with great difficulty that God loves and tolerates us.

The image of a God that is disappointed with us, because we don't measure up. Shakes His head when he sees us

An unreasonable expectation that we can never meet. Not accepted for who we are, or where we are at

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is not what I see in God. I see a loving heavenly Father
His kids are always welcome in his lap. He's intensely interested in them
He puts everything aside to listen to them. He glories in their presence
Can hardly wait to see them again when they return. Delights in them
There is a line down the center of this post, Which side of the line are you on? Top, or bottom?"
Link to topic.
So, this new topic is an extension of that previous topic, but with the focus on God as our heavenly parent.
How does your view of parenting, or of a father effect your view of God?
If we are modeling godly parenting, our children should have a healthy view of our heavenly parent.
I'm thankful that I have a good relationship with my adult children.
But this meant owning up to some things that went wrong early on.
Fortunately, I have found that children are very willing to forgive. (in my case)
So, when I swallowed my pride, they met me more than halfway.
I want to hear from others about how they view this subject.
- What is your view of parenting?
- What is your view of our heavenly parent?
- How did/does your view of your own parents effect your view of God as Father?
- Have you projected the image of a dysfunctional parent on your heavenly parent?
During our 56 years of marriage, we had four children. One of them was very strong-willed; the others were compliant. Parents must show both tender and tough love toward their children. I mean that they must set and enforce limits for their children's actions when transgressing those limits would violate God's ways or hurt the children (tough love) and spend loving time with them (tender love).
God shows us both tender and tough love too, the first to comfort us and the second to challenge us to become more like Jesus.
On a spiritual plane, we don’t know how many levels of maturing that is. However, it is probably much most significant than 18 years here on earth.
From post #71.
While re-reading your post I was thinking about the spiritual things that Father God was teaching Jesus.
- Turning water into wine
- Walking on water
- Calming storms
- Feeding the multitudes
- Healing the sick
- Curing blindness
- Raising the dead
- Discerning the thoughts of others
- Speaking heavenly wisdom that silenced his foes
And what did Jesus say about us? (we haven't seen this day yet)
John 14:12 NIV
Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing,
and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
Some people should not have children.
Some people are exceptional parents.
Unconditional love and eternal acceptance, through Christ.
The earthly Male Parent > Child relationship, has a lot of future impact regarding how a believer understand's God's acceptance of them.
i seem to notice a certain name . THROUGH WHO , THROUGH CHRIST . i also noticed he didnt put a like on it .
MANY now believe a lie and that lie implies its okay if one beleives not on Christ .
You gonna see this inclusive interfaith literally swallow up most all of even christendom .
AS FOR ME . YEAH I STICK TO THE GOSPEL OF JESUS THE CHRIST .
sure wont argue with that myfriend . we deserved the eternal fiery lake of fierce fire .
PRAISE GOD who translated us from darkness and into the KINGDOM of HIS SON .
But many now beleive there is no need to beleive in HIM as they have swallowed down the purple pill
of that which they see as GOD and HIS LOVE .
You see more and more are gonna bring messages that will use the truth , but twist the truth
in order to cause a lie to be beleived . just like the sepent did in the garden .
For they will say truths like , GOD is LOVE , GOD created all , GOD desires none to perish
and yet by thier version of so called love will preach a lie that shall cause all who do believe it , TO PERISH .
SO allow me a real simple reminder .
LETS use the TRUTH TO SPEAK THE TRUTH .
GOD IS LOVE , GOD DID CREATE ALL , GOD DOES DESIRE NONE TO PERISH .
GOD DOES LOVE the world
FOR GOD so loved the world that HE sent HIS only begotten son
that ALL WHO DO BELEIVE IN HIM would not perish but have everlasting life . THEY SURE LEAVE THE BELEIVE IN HIM PART OUT .
