I've been a born again believer in Jesus Christ for many years. This is a very long story which I will try to summarize briefly. I have been harassed by apartment neighbors in 4 different apartments in two states since 2013. The harassment was done in similar fashion in each case. I've always been a respectful tenant and strive to live peaceably with all people. I'll jump to the latest incident which started recently. A little over a year ago, I moved into a small two bedroom apartment where my elderly parents live to escape harassing neighbors at a previous place. The landlady's nephew lives alone in the apartment next to us. He uses the room next to mine to smoke cigarettes and marijuana, particularly in the middle of the night. When he was often in there, I would get up, turn on the fan and open the window to get rid of the smoke which came through the wall. I think this might have irritated him for some reason that I did this. Or it is also possible that he heard me listening to Christian music and programming (played at a normal volume) which some people find extremely irritating. So this man devised an evil scheme to try to get me to move out. He takes a can of lysol or similar product and sprays it directly into the wall several times a day. My room becomes absolutely saturated with this spray. This is far beyond normal use. I mean it is so strong I can't be in the room; it makes me feel sick it makes my nose burn and the air is noxious. I have to try to sleep on the floor in the hallway. My father, who is not a believer, thinks I am overreacting. He forbids me to say anything to the neighbor or his aunt the landlady because he doesn't want trouble with them. My name is not on the lease and I have no recourse other than to move out. The problem is I have nowhere to go. I have very little money. I had been working through a temp agency at a factory but I had to leave early one night because there was a problem with the medical device I wore at the time and they let me go the next day. I recently got a job waiting tables at a restaurant but make little money. There is no place for me to stay in this town. I have considered driving to Florida since it is winter so I can sleep in my little car or tent since it wouldn't be so cold there. I don't really want to do that, but I can't come up with a better solution. I have tried to tough this out, but it is absolutely agonizing to live here. I feel tormented in my spirit. Something in me ( perhaps it is the Holy Spirit) just tells me I have to get away from this man next door somehow. He is not going to stop harassing, and who knows what he will do next if I stay here.

So sorry you are facing this, is there anyway of covering the vent ( presuming that’s what you mean when you say it’s coming through the wall ) that way the spray will spray back into the room he is in !!
Will pray about the situation x

Hi Rita, thank you for the reply. Actually there is no vent or opening between the two apartments. As it turns out, the walls in many buildings are actually very porous, although I wouldn't have thought that until I observed it. Spraying something directly onto the wall, it will go through it completely and come out on the other side. It is clear that he is doing this deliberately because it is being sprayed in such large amounts, whereas before this wasn't the case. It started a month or so ago. He watches me evidently and knows my schedule and will spray at certain times when he knows I am trying to sleep, etc. Opening the window and blowing a fan toward the wall where he sprays seems to have little effect on the room being saturated with spray. So apparently he is spraying such large amounts of spray that there isn't much to do as far as clearing the air in the room. Thank you for your prayers, and I pray for you as well.

Father, I pray for Stephen in this situation. I pray that these things will be worked out justly in his favor. Please change his neighbor's heart, that he will stop doing things in this way to him. Help Stephen and allow him to live in a good place he will be happy at. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Can you get photo and video documentation of the saturated walls in case you need proof?

Maybe try Vicks under your nose. All the harassment may just disappear.

Hello Stephen,

Have you considered praying for the landlord's son, that the Lord would consider including him in those whom he is drawing to himself. And continue praying giving thanks that the Lord has hear your request for your neighbour and is working to draw your neighbour in the room next to your room, to Himself.

Now a friend asked for his Christians friends to pray for another job because he had just lost his present job and needs a job to support his family with. He also confirmed that he has difficulty in holding onto jobs and is often fired or is asked to leave.

How would you recommend that this friend should be prayed for as there could be a number of reasons that the friend is losing his job on a regular basis and each reason would require a very different type of prayer.

The first reason could be that the friend has a character flaw that puts other people, particularly bosses, offside and as a result he is often fired, and in his understanding, for no apparent reason. As such he is blaming others for his job losses and not considering that he personally is having a very big impact on losing jobs regularly. Would it not be better to pray that God would give him understanding to see that his character flaw needs to be resolved and that God would show him the steps that he should take to so that the character flaw is resolved and removed from off of him.

The second reason could be that the friend does not realise that his mission field is the working environment in which he is holding his jobs and that once his work is done within that particular "working" mission field it is God who is moving the friend on to find another work "mission field." Perhaps it would be best to ask God to open this friends eyes so that he can see the missional opportunities that God gives him as he moves from one working environment to another.

The third reason for this friend losing his job could be that there is an economical down turn globally within the country and that many people are losing their jobs. Perhaps the friend and his family need encouragement and to become fully dependant on the Lord for the provisions needed for him and his family, during this economical downturn so that his trusting of the Lord is a witness to all of the people around him.

Now if using speakers to listen to Christian material is offending others then perhaps headphones would be a better approach for you to use.

Now if the walls are porous, then painting the walls between the apartments will a "paint/sealer" that will seal the wall so that it was not longer porous as you state, at your expense and with the landlords blessing, is also a solution to consider. The sealing "paint" could be clear such that the actual wall paint is not hidden underneath.

Stephen, perhaps the solution that you are asking others to pray to God for, is already known to you, and all what you really need prayer for is for you to step out to become fully dependant on the Lord for all of your needs and solutions.

Shalom

Loud sirens and drill a hole in the wall and shoot a roach fogger into the room where he is at.
If he asks any questions, tell him you heard he had a roach....roach-pot.

Well Rita, I did a little research on walls to see what I could find out. It turns out that sheetrock and drywall are very porous. Evidently it is designed this way so that trapped moisture in the walls can escape. Even concrete walls are somewhat porous, and many kinds of wall paint are designed so that moisture can pass through it so it will not stay inside the wall. So this would explain why something like a spray can pass though a wall in an apartment building. Yes, it is a tough situation. but I am confident God will provide a solution. Sometimes the answer does not come right away, but I know the Lord has one.

This might be a good idea if there were some way to take a cross-section sample from inside the wall and then have it tested to prove that excessive amounts of spray were sprayed into the wall from the other side. This spray does not leave any stain or discoloration on my side of the wall that I can see. Maybe it does on the neighbor's side; I don't know. I suppose this would involve actually drilling through the wall to get a sample for testing, which is not an option unfortunately.

Thank you for your reply. I do pray for the landlady's nephew, I pray for his salvation, although I did not mention that in my original post. Certainly we are instructed to pray for our enemies, and Paul writing to Timothy said that prayers should be made for all people, and also kings and all those in authority. God is not willing that anyone should perish. Also, I have taken to using headphones recently, as I thought about that myself. As to the matter you wrote about, a Christian person who seems to have trouble staying with a job they accept, I think there could be a number of different reasons for something like this happening. It could be that the person is not thinking things through when they accept a job and they really should think about and investigate a potential job carefully ahead of time to see if it is a job for which they are able to perform the duties expected and that the job will allow them to meet their needs. Having worked in factories, I can say honestly that not everyone is cut out for this kind of work through no fault of their own. I have seen people who tried but just did not seem to have the ability for that kind of work for some reason. So what I am saying is it could be the person you described is not choosing wisely before accepting a job and asking questions to see if the job would be a good fit for them. Or perhaps they have unrealistic expectations and the job ends up not working out for them as they assumed it would because they started off expecting too much. Also, as you mentioned, there are issues such as economic downturns, companies downsizing their staff, things that are not in any way the fault of the employee. And I would agree, sometimes God might lead a Christian to move to a different "mission field" of a job for some reason. I really like the point you make about the need to be fully dependent upon the Lord. In fact I have considered that myself. The Bible speaks of this in 2 Corinthians 1:9. I think in some ways this has actually been my problem, that I really need to depend on the Lord to meet my needs. Thank you for making this point, and God bless you.
