Hellfire and brimstone has given way to eternal separation from God. - Why?

So these arguments about where the dead end up, become silly when the answer is right there in the Bible.
“Hades” is “the grave” and “Gehenna” is eternal death from which no one is resurrected. It’s always been “life or death” not “heaven or hell”.”
So you anticipate no further reward and even your name will be forgotten? Pity that.

Triggered again QT....if you don’t like what I write, don’t read it. All you do is criticise and add nothing to any discussion except your own flawed point of view.....tell someone who might care about your viewpoint....I really find no value in any of it probably because I understand so little of what you write.

The truth doesn’t require 2 paragraphs or less...a child does.

Sarcasm is an indication of a poor spirit....with nothing of value to say....shoot down the other guy who makes you look inadequate.....cheap shots are all you have. I’m done with you....
like I said, I'm sorry you haven't heard and it appears to me you don't know what you haven't heard.....further, you don't want to know what you haven't heard.

Bye.

It's unfortunate AJ that you feel the need to double down.
......and just to add a little 'humour', I guess the ignore list invoked, keeps one ignorant?

You completely misunderstand StS. What did the faithful Ones of the past look forward to? Those in Israel, who read those words, knew exactly what Solomon meant....

Have the names of those faithful ones been forgotten?
We are not written about in the annals of history unless we contributed something important. These ones, whose story is recorded in Scripture, contributed something of spiritual importance, something that the world does not value.

If you read Hebrews 11, it is a concise compilation of the lives of all those ancient servants of God that we can read about.....their trials and tribulations as well as their determined faith in the face of all that they suffered.
It concludes by saying...
“These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised, since God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect. (Heb 11:39-40)

What were the “promises” these ones look forward to? “God planned something better” for them. When the resurrection takes place, all will be together...made perfect....in heaven?.....NO! They had no expectation of heaven...they looked forward to perfect life on earth.

It's a whole verse.
If it's not true that there will be no further reward and even your name will be forgotten,
then it's not true that the dead know nothing.

It's only true for what happens under the sun in the physical realm.

Would you say Jonah could not have physically been alive for three days in the big fish? Yet he prayed during that time

The story indicates that he was alive.
Although I suppose he thought he was a goner. I would. - LOL

Being swallowed by large fish is definitely life-threatening.

He probably mentions "hell" (Hades/Sheol/the realm of the dead) because he thought he was a goner.

Im not a medical expert, but I would have doubted anyone could be in a big fish for three days and stay alive

Didn't you know that air conditioning and pressure equalising sensors.....including park benches, are all part of the internal workings of big fish? :hmhehmhmmx1:

Edit...why, the other day when I opened one up, the hobo on the park bench offered me a swig of his whiskey!

The story say that Jonah was vomited on the shore of Nineveh.
Was he alive then?
When he was vommitted out, definatley, but he spoke to God just before he was vomitted out. So, could he be alive for three days in the belly of a big fish under the sea?

As an aside, Jesus links Jonah's experience to his own, yet he died at Calvary, and was as he explained in the heart of the earth
That doesn't establish that Jonah died in the belly of a large fish.
What do you make of the story AFTER Jonah was vomited on the shore in Nineveh?

Jonah promised to do what God wanted him to so he vomitted him out of the fish, and Jonah obeyed. The whole point here is, could Jonah have remained alive for three days whilst he was in the fish?

It seems to me that according to the story he did in fact remain alive.
Jesus used his experience as an example of where He went before His resurrection.
Does that qualify the story? (hard to say)

Which is a bigger miracle? Jesus made proclamation to the realm of the dead, or Jonah survived the large fish?

Well nothing is impossible for God, but Jonah did say:
In my distress I called to the Lord,
and he answered me.
From deep in the realm of the dead I called for help,
and you listened to my cry. Jonah2:2
In the KJV it uses the word hell

Sounds like a biblical NDE. - LOL
He wasn't dead, obviously.
