So you anticipate no further reward and even your name will be forgotten? Pity that.
You completely misunderstand StS. What did the faithful Ones of the past look forward to? Those in Israel, who read those words, knew exactly what Solomon meant....
Have the names of those faithful ones been forgotten?
We are not written about in the annals of history unless we contributed something important. These ones, whose story is recorded in Scripture, contributed something of spiritual importance, something that the world does not value.
If you read Hebrews 11, it is a concise compilation of the lives of all those ancient servants of God that we can read about.....their trials and tribulations as well as their determined faith in the face of all that they suffered.
It concludes by saying...
“These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised, since God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect. (Heb 11:39-40)
What were the “promises” these ones look forward to? “God planned something better” for them. When the resurrection takes place, all will be together...made perfect....in heaven?.....NO! They had no expectation of heaven...they looked forward to perfect life on earth.
