Just hope that you all can and will give the new ownership there a chance. And hope that the blogs will stay. As with any new ownership, need to give them time and knowing they are trying to familiarize themselves.

Hi @JPPT1974. It's nice to hear from a former member of the encounter/encouragement team.

I personally like @doughty but he is not as regular here as I'm sure he is on his other forums so discussions and/or inquiries can take some time to deal with.

However, I am thankful for the ChristianityBoard team. Some have been here right from the start. @lforrest and I have been here through 4+owner changes. We will probably stay here until the Lord decides that it is time for us to move on....

.....Blessings and Peace!

Hey everybody!

My name is Dan Doughty, and I have just recently taken over as new ownership of this site from Rex and Brent about 2-2.5 weeks ago.

I would just like to say that I am extremely excited to be part of this great forum and hope I can be a valuable contribution to the site and to all of you over time.

A little about me... I'm based in Temecula, CA, and married with 3 kids. I have a history of ministry, having worked on a college campus for a number of years with a college church ministry where I had the privilege to see many college-aged students become Christians and lead Bible studies. Now, my family and I attend a local church here in Temecula.

I'm looking forward to meeting everybody and seeing how I can be helpful. Really excited to learn how things are being done here and how I can best serve the community!

Hope you have enjoyed the new emojis I added the other day at the request of @lforrest and @Angelina

They have provided me with a list of improvements requested that I intend to take a look at and try to implement as quickly as I can. I'm looking forward to seeing how I can help all of you with the site if needed.

Praise be unto the Lord for your family, Dan.
You guys look really happy.
My wife and I have a little one an we are currently training for when they grow up in a few years by watching Supernanny together on YouTube. Very informative program if you have not seen it. But it looks like your kids are great.
May the Lord Jesus Christ bless you-all beyond all measure, brother.

Congratulations on acquiring the forum, as well.
I hope you will be able to help provide a place where Christians can voice their beliefs on what God’s Word says.

Improvements (if you want to take such suggestions):

#1. Please remove the “Triquetra“ logo (Located at the top left hand corner of the site) and replace it with a more pure Christian logo. Maybe a picture of a Bible, or cross, etcetera. Logo designers are cheap at Etsy.com. While the current forum logo (the Triquetra) is used in Christian churches to represent the Trinity, and it was a symbol on the NKJV (at one time), it is also a symbol used in the Buddha religion, the New Age, and in witchcraft.

From Wikipedia:

“The triquetra has been a known symbol in Japan called Musubi Mitsugashiwa… spreading… Buddhism.”
“The symbol is also sometimes used by Wiccans, White Witches, and some New Agers to symbolise the Triple Goddess, or as a protective symbol.”
”American fantasy drama Charmed, that ran on the now defunct The WB network, the triquetra was prominently used as a symbol on the Halliwell's Book of Shadows, the book of spells, potions,…”

Source:

Please keep in mind that I do believe in the eternal Godhead or Trinity.
I believe the Lord our God is one God and yet also He exists also as three distinct persons. So I love the truth of the Godhead or the Trinity indeed. God is beautiful and unique (As revealed in Scripture). I just don’t think we need to have a Triquetra logo (Mixed in with with other false pagan ways) to be able to declare such a truth that is in God’s Word.

#2. Not sure if this is possible, but Mormons, and Jehovah’s Witnesses, and Catholics, etc. should at least go by these names on the forum so as not to mislead others about what their real religious affiliation actually is. So in each of their posts it should declare they are either JW, Mormon, Catholic, etcetera. They clearly do so on the outside of their buildings in most cases and so why not on the forum? Granted, I can spot them a mile a way, but your new Christian convert may not be able to see them for who they really are (and they hide behind the label of Christian - yet their beliefs are contrary to Scripture), it can mislead them. The name of their religion should show up in each of their posts. Granted, this may go against what you feel is right, and I understand that. But I also feel that they are not being upfront in who they really are. Bible believing Christians should be an outreach to them and not allow them to move about as if they are hidden in sheep’s clothing to deceive new Christians. In other words, if a Christian is professing to be Catholic or JW on the forum in some way, the label of Christian should change to what they are really professing (that matches their religion). If one is hiding behind the label of Christian and you are JW, or Mormon, it is not being up front and honest, and showing transparency of one’s true stated beliefs. At least that’s my 2 cents worthy anyways.

#3. Media section restricts me on posting any new images and I have been posting here for a long time. This is not the case on another Christian forum, but I do understand that data usage can be expensive and it may not be a cost that you are willing to invest in at this time. Maybe if they are a paid contributor to help offset the costs, or being a paid monthly premium member they can do so.

#4. At another Christian forum I used to be at, they had a symbol below the avatar letting you know if they were male or female. Sometimes I would accidentally call a sister a brother not realizing it.

#5. If we can increase the word count per post (would be awesome).
The other forum I was at allowed me to write more words per post. But if you feel it is good to keep posts smaller, I understand (of course). While I may not always post super long posts, I do like to do so on occasion.

Things that I would not like to see (Which were a problem on other forums):

#1. My first forum - I left there because it was becoming too spiritually dark, and the name calling and insults became too much for me to stay there to reach anyone. They called me things like Wolf, or 666 (mixed in with my username), etcetera. So allowing people to be insulting and hurtful should lead to warnings and eventual banning.

#2. My second forum - Banned me and tons of other people. In my case, they did really state a real reason why I was banned. I always strive to speak in a loving and respectful way. I suspect they did like my preaching passionately on a particular biblical subject (that they did not agree with). At this forum, you will see an unusually high number of people banned. I talked to the owner of the site, and he did not really get back to me on it. So it was very strange.

#3. My third forum - (of which I have close to 40,000 posts) I am still an active member, but I left there voluntarily because they became way too restrictive. One admin (who was Calvinist) did not really like me and he attempted to goad me at times about my disagreement with Calvinism. He told me to repent by Private message. At other times, when I disagreed with a person’s beliefs they took it as an insult and I got warnings there at times. So I had to walk on egg shells. They also banned the KJB Only discussion (Note: they did not ban me but they banned the discussion) because of my passionate defense of it using the Bible. They called the topic to be divisive. Granted, I believe in fellowship with those Christians who are not KJB Only. But where is freedom of speech? They also created a new rule that will ban a person immediately for posting in a closed thread. Again, that should be on their end to make sure the thread is closed. Perhaps they mean that they don’t want a person starting up another thread under the same title to continue the discussion. But again.… there is that freedom of speech thing. I understand arguments can be heated, but we should give people warnings to speak in love and clean up the posts in a thread that have bad behavior. But closing the thread to prevent a topic we don’t like is only going to lead them to go somewhere else to talk about it (Unless they are promoting something really heretical or something or wrong). For example: I did talk with other self professing Christians who thought porn was not a sin (on this other third forum). This is to me is wrong on the highest order going against the words of our Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew 5:28-30. So I can understand a thread like that being erased or closed because it Is the promotion of evil and leading others astray on an extremely high level. So I get it that some topics should be restricted if they will lead a person into sin. I did like on this third forum how JWs and Mormons were not allowed to post in the Christian section of the forums. I wish that could be the case here. But I understand no place is perfect.

I hope this helps, and may the Lord Jesus Christ bless you and your family beyond all measure.

Sincerely,

A Bible Highlighter.

We know what it is @Highlighter and understand it's meaning however, this what not the reason this symbol was placed here by the Original owner. Perhaps if you had of been a member here in 2011, you may have gotten some incite into his reasoning but you haven't. You have only been a member since 2022....

Blessings to you and Peace from God...

I understand that was not the reason the logo was used. I would say that many Christians are not aware that it is also used by the New Age, witches, and those who are into the Buddha religion. But I believe Christians are to be holy and separate from the world and it’s dark ways. But again, I can understand them using this logo and not being aware of how it’s used by others. But again, the logo does bother me because it is used by those who are into the dark arts (Because well… I know this truth or fact).

You have a right to your opinion @Highlighter and I have a right to mine. It has been here longer than you have and It has not sent anyone to hell nor has it been an issue until someone makes it an issue. So now we will have to agree to disagree....

I would agree with this request. There are many other proper Christian symbols which can be used. In fact I brought this issue up a long time ago, and it was ignored.

I do not mean to offend. We all grow in the knowledge of God’s Word. I am also not saying that a believer is going to hell if they used this symbol in ignorance. I just would feel extremely uneasy of using it after knowing the truth that I do. We are called to be holy and separate from the world, and we are told not to love the world and neither the things that are in it (1 John 2:15-17). Using symbols that are used by others who are into witchcraft, the New Age, and the Buddha religion does not make it seem like I am trying to be holy, distinct and separate from them. Again, I understand that they probably did not know. So I will give them that. But we as Christians should stand out and be distinct from other false ways.

Well you are being offensive. If the symbol was a fourleaf clover, Im sure someone will complain about that. Come on, there are more important things to deal with in today's society than this. :IDK:
So you don’t have a problem with this symbol also being used by those who are into Witchcraft, the New Age, and the Buddha religion?

1 Thessalonians 5:22 says, “Abstain from all appearance of evil.”

Even if the symbol was innocent, why associate with a symbol that is used by the dark arts and confuse others?

Side Note:

The four leaf clover also does not represent Christianity. So why would one want to use that kind of symbol to represent Christianity?
Christianity is not something we can make it mean whatever we like it to be. The Bible has rules and guidelines of what makes up a Christian. Just any ole image does not represent Christianity.

Obviously marks or symbols matter to God. For example: Taking the mark of the beast (During the end times) is not a good thing.

No, I don't because that is not the reason it was used here in the first place.. :Broadly:
It does not seem like we are going to agree on this topic, sister.
We can agree to disagree in love.
May the Lord Jesus Christ bless you beyond all measure.
