Sorry but this is off topic , so perhaps you would like to start your own thread about the above, many thanks x

No burden is too heavy, when everyone lifts.

The question is.... should everyone have "affordable"... food, shelter, and health care., and should this be free or should this be affordable so that you can work and have it.?

What works against this solution is the "entitlement mentality", that believes that because you are born, you deserve a free ride.

Paul said..>"if you dont work, you don't eat".
Socialism says...>"agree to let us own you and we will give you some money per month and some of the other stuff tooooo.

In general, people need self esteem or mental health evaporates, and you can't have this if you have no sense of personal responsibility, and that means that you can't just stay home, stay high, and exit.

Finding the balance, and creating a society that is based on this balance, and not based on "me first and you last"......is very difficult to create and sustain.

We have plenty of homeless in interior Alaska. Mostly it's drug addicts or individuals with mental health issues who don't have any family or institutional support. Amazing, they live out in arctic temperatures and survive.

Yes , we see it all the time with our own benefits system, you have those who genuinely need help and support but there are many that don’t want to work and exploit the system. Over here many don’t want to work because they can actually get more money being out of work ……..

Hi everyone,
I have just watched a tv documentary on Slab city in California, and indirectly I discovered that in the US it is considered illegal to be homeless and you are chucked in jail if you found to be homeless……..why ?
Homelessness is not a crime, it’s the end result of so many things.
What is the crime based on !?
Who decided it was a crime !?
So when and if you see a homeless person, a person often in need, do you look upon them as a criminal !?
Must admit I don’t get it………….
Help me to understand ..
Is it the same in Canada , Australia , New Zealand ?
Rita
It is a crime and the Government should be held accountable.

It is the result of society grown cold and heartless.
Rather than clothing and sheltering the homeless, they are making it a crime.
Christians are not doing their duty to their poorer neighbours.
Yet, this is what Jesus prophesized will happen more than 2000 years ago, that the hearts of many will grow cold.

I don't think homelessness is a crime, but I think trespassing is a crime.

I was homeless once and standing in a business eve when it was cold windy and raining, it snowed a little too. The police claimed I was trying to break in, apparently they had a witness that lived across the street that said I was trying to break in. But I was just staying dry, but I did look in the window. Anyways they arrested me and I spent some time in jail.

It is not a crime to be homeless where I live, but the homeless get arrested a lot for trying to survive. Into and out of jail often.

Hi Rita, Can’t speak for other countries, but in the US, anyone can be homeless, and not a nuisance or health hazard. In every major US city is sort of cities within the cities, that can be hundreds of tents, tarps, on lawns, sidewalks, in store door ways, piles high of junk, trash, discarded needles, urine, feces. Disgusting. Cities implement laws, but can not really accommodate arresting and logging in and storing their shopping carts they steal and push about collecting and carrying their possessions.
Type in any major US city, homeless pictures, disgusting.
The illegal aspect leans more toward, turning an others property into a garbage dump. It’s not “A” homeless person, it’s hundreds and hundreds.

Yes it’s the same over here , although there seems to be a mixture of good and bad homeless people. We also have professional ‘ homeless people ‘ who are placed around the city to beg , they often have someone who takes some of the money from them.

I’m sure there is a mix of reasons and types of people...run-always, drug addicts, lost jobs, fed up with govt tax confiscation, mental inflictions, overwhelmed, on and on.
And sure a good and bad mix, as well as FAKE homeless, more-so street corner beggars who drive their vehicle, park and beg all day and go home to a lovely home.
It is disturbing.
