The fact that identical twins show greater occurrence (concordance) of both being homosexual than siblings indicates a genetic link ... it does not prove a "gay gene" ... it is a "predisposition" to behavior that is impacted by environment.

Christian counselors are well aware of the significant environmental factors that are more likely to influence sexuality among susceptible people.

The important point to note is that homosexuals do not choose to be same sex attracted ... however, they do choose what they do about it,

Heaven shuts when a person no longer believes he/ she is forgiven.
Sin hardening our hearts manifests in the refusal, the inability or the unwillingness to believe that God has forgiven our sin.

And if such a gene did exist, it would not have been able to proliferate because it couldn't have been passed on to the next generation for obvious reasons.

That would argue against encouraging gay people to adopt a heterosexual lifestyle.

Sorry to hear that. It is not popular to say but it is a disorder like any other mental disorder ... we would never withdraw our love & support from someone who was (eg) schizophrenic even though their aberrant behaviour may require us to distance ourselves from them.
You are doing the best you can for them by praying fervently and patiently.

Brother, mine too. With a little bipolar and autism spectrum disorder for flavoring. Military family, dad on deployment most of the time while he was growing up, overbearing mother struggling to raise two kids mostly by herself, constant power struggles between parents when dad was back from the war... Just a completely ****ed-up situation. Nice enough young man when he's on his meds. No idea what he thinks a woman is or why he thinks he is one.
