“and having taken the hand of the blind man, he led him forth without the village, and having spit on his eyes, having put [his] hands on him, he was questioning him if he doth behold anything: and he, having looked up, said, ‘I behold men, as I see trees, walking.’ Afterwards again he put [his] hands on his eyes, and made him look up, and he was restored, and discerned all things clearly,”

I see no prophetic significance in that Matt, it was simply literal, his vision did not return instantaneously, rather was progressive, what he literally saw was humans walking but to him they looked like trees walking about, then Jesus laid his hands on him again and his eyes adjusted fully with his sight being restored.

There is nothing in the scriptures that was inserted by a mere whim to take up unnecessary space. All of scripture is given for doctrine, that includes Mark 8:23-25. What every Bible student needs to ask is, why did God put that there? After all, these are God’s words, not man’s.

In this case, the reason God is likening men to trees is because it will help us understand the reference we find in the book of Revelation regarding hurting the grass or any tree during the day of judgment.

Revelation 9:3-4 (KJV)
3 And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. 4 And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.

In the Bible we know that God typifies men as grass (1 Peter 1:24) and Mark 8:23-25 helps to know that God also typifies men as trees. Therefore, this makes the reference in revelation easier to understand that it’s not referring to the physical literal grass or trees, but of people.

I hope this helps.
