Christ does not do it all for us! that's substitutionism

Christ obtained the redemption and atonement making our union with Him by grace possible

That doesn't fit with what the angel said to Joseph:

(Mat 1:20 NKJV) But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.
(Mat 1:21) And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins."

The angel did NOT say, "You shall call His name JESUS, for He will make salvation possible."

Christ does not do it all for us! that's substitutionism
Ah. So its like the OT animal sacrifices. where an animal was substituted in our place. and purchased our atonement and redemption
Christ obtained the redemption and atonement making our union with Him by grace possible
Yes.. Because he took what we owe. and he paid the prince in our place.

Yes. To work out our salvation, to practice it. To Make fruit.

Not to stay saved.
Jn 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

does that mean you will be saved?
Did Jesus take all my sin. or just some of my sin?
Yes.

We are a union

He made atonement for my sin debt
He redeemed my by his blood
He saved me from Gods wrath
He justified me by his grace and mercy
He perfected me forever
He Gave me every spiritual blessing under heaven
He seated me in the heavenly places.
He has forgiven me all sin (becuse he paid for them on the cross)
He gave me the living water that endures to eternal life
He gave me the food which endures forever.

He gave me the promise he will never leave nor forsake me
He gave me the promise he will raise me onl the last day. I will not be delievered to him
He gave me the promise I will never die, I will live forever
He gave me the HS as a pledge or guarantee until the day of redemption
He is now my Abba Father.
He gave me not a spirit of fear. but a spirit of sound mind
He gave me hope. He gave me A father, He gave me a Spirit and he gave me a savior.
He gave me a home to look forward to. I am a stranger on this plant. This is not my home.. He is prepairing a place for me.

do you believe all these things or not?

Do you not know that you know God? I don't have any question in my mind that I know my Creator. He has proven Himself to me time and again.

Personally I think this is the most important question you can ask anyone, including yourself. Do you know Him?

Much love!
Yes I know Him. But I know myself also, that I am weak, having a propensity to sin and a love for the things of this world, doubting with deep understanding my own strength and knowing with clarity that without Christ I can do nothing. So having no confidence in self, but confidence towards God in that He is able to complete the work He has begun, if I keep that faith in Him and my doubts in self to the end.
Do you consider knowing God to be an equivalent expression? Scripture says even the Demons believe and know God.

Also, Scripture says to work out your salvation with fear and trembling. How do you reconcile that with having no doubt?
We aren't to doubt God, He is able to do more than we could possibly ask or think. But we should surely doubt ourselves: to save ourselves, to stay faithful, to overcome sin. These things God has promised to do for us. Let us not doubt God is able. When we doubt God, when our faith stumbles and believe God isn't able to keep that which He Himself bought and paid for, when we begin to believe that God cannot accomplish what He has promised, then we are lost, for it is only by faith that we can receive grace and mercy.

Great post @Brakelite

We aren't to doubt God

I think our doubt is natural, especially about whether our prayers will be answered in the way we want.

our faith stumbles and believe God isn't able to keep that which He Himself bought and paid for, when we begin to believe that God cannot accomplish what He has promised, then we are lost, for it is only by faith that we can receive grace and mercy.
Again, as you wrote in previous post, provided we remain faithful. Sad that some suppose Jesus was tortured to death so we could sin with impunity.

I won't tempt my Heavenly Father and His Son with such 'are you saved' mumbo-jumbo.

He already knows, and I'd like to think that I am going to be 'saved' as per His Promise of Salvation, but that time of certainty has not happened yet, and won't until the day of His future coming. Thus I pray and have hope... in His Salvation.

Rom 8:23-25
23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?

25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

Again, only half the Gospel. "Receive" is another verb, which cannot be thought of as one and done because Hebrews tells us another verb, action on our part, has no sacrifice to cover. Jesus does as he promised but we do not is not his failure.
"One and Done!" I like that assessment Wrangler! I think it's true and "more correct" then many (how can I say) "pew potatoes (churchianitists)" are cognizant of, and many pastors "shy away from" (shame on THEM!)! Well? It's kinda hard I guess, from a Pastor, Preacher, Priest, to even "suggest" there's a LOT of inward spiritual sacrificing/s that are "required" in a "believers walk of faith" that SHOULD be discerned APART from the "Common Salvation Messaging's" that "growing the flock" in such a material world that we live in.

Meaning there's a huge gap betweenst "receiving this FREE GIFT of Salvation", and????.........
I'll explain this a way:
Salvation is "GIVEN!"
Maturing "In the Spirit?"
Is EARNED!
Like "THIS!":
1 Peter 2:
5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, "acceptable" to God BY Jesus Christ.
This is where the "one and done" believers don't go!
And, I suspect the "main" reason is primarily due that they "can't handle" or, don't wanna walk the "path/s" the "Spirit of TRUTH" WILL lead them in the (how can I say) UNWRAPPING this "Gift' of Salvation to see what's "inside!"

Oh I am sure. We can doubt God in areas of our life

But do we doubt God about our eternity?

I ask again, Are you sinless?

I ask. Because if your answer is no. then you claim you are a child of God who still sins.

so what differentiate you from me?
Isn't this stuff the false innuendo used by so many? They speak as though they no longer sin, yet won't come out and say it, just more innuendo trying to stay on the "higher moral ground" without actually lying about them self.

I know several on this forum, all the same. "OH! You still sin? Oh My!!" The worst delusions are those we choose.

Much love!

I believe John 15 is about producing fruit. It is about living our our salvation.

The law and all of the works of the law could not Cause God to forgive one sin.

do you think your works will do any better than the law could? What makes you think you are better than King David? Abraham? Or any of the prophets. Who were saved by trusting in God. not by any works..
the grace of justification that unites us to Christ with His power, merits, life, and spirit

Jn 15:5 apart from Christ? nothing

phil 4:13 with Christ? all things

thks

Oh I am sure. We can doubt God in areas of our life

But do we doubt God about our eternity?
Here's the line that I draw; I am certain God can save me. While I believe I am saved, humility prevents me from claiming I am certain of my individual fate.

Robert Rogers was on his death bed and asked his wife if he was a sheep or a goat. Mrs. Rogers said you are a sheep if there has ever been a sheep. If Mr. Rogers questioned his fate, had the humility to question his fate, there is no way I am going to claim I have been as much of a sheep as he.

Now if you want to deny all these promises and try to earn them by your works. Feel free..

I will continue to abide in him, for he is worthy..
and if you don't abide in Him?
