I don't get it.
Reward. Gift.
Same thing really.
Both are describing salvation
Actually no.
I gift is freely given, It is not paid for in any sense by the person recieving the gift. If the reciever has to pay something in return. it is not a gift.
A reward (or wage) is something we earn. I earn a reward by working for it.
Well thats too bad. Because your trying to earn salvation as a reward, and not recieving it in faith as a gift.If I have faith, do good deeds and repent for my sins but you say I won't be saved because I'm trusting my good deeds then I strongly disagree.
I did not say you would not be saved. i said it depends..Your the only person that hasn't said yes I will be saved when I ask that question.
No. Salvation is not a reward it is a gift.Even you said we will be judged on our deeds and get the reward which I'm assuming is the reward of salvation.
You earn a crown, You earn Gold Silver Precious Stone. You earn Wood hay and Straw. You earn reewards for bearing fruit
You earn hell because of your sin
You can not earn salvation. Nothing you could ever do would make you worthy to enter the presence of God.
2 tim 1: 9 who has saved us (a completed action) and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works , but according to his own purpose and grace which was given to us in christ jesus before time began
titus 3: 4 but when the kindness and the love of god our savior toward man appeared, 5 not by works of righteousness (good deeds) which we have done , but according to his mercy he saved us through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the holy spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us abundantly through jesus christ our savior, 7 that having been justified by his grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life
This is a strawman argument. No one thinks this way but those who are apposed to Salvation By Grace Through Faith, apart from worksAnd if a person believes they will be saved on faith alone then they don't need to worry about deeds or repentance. It gives them a false license to sin. I disagree with that too
We have become like the tax collector. So horrified by our sin and rebellion against a Holy God. we are not even able to look up at him in shame and cry out for his mercy.
Anyway, whatever. Thanks for trying to explain this concept but faith alone makes no sense me. I don't understand it.
It is basic
Trust God
1. You are a sinner. Hence the wage of sin is death. You cannot come into the presence of God. because of your sin
2. God, whi is rich in his mercy and grace. loved the world. And sent his son to become the lamb of God who takes your sin on his body. so you can be restored to life.
3. Trust in God
if you do this
1. God will save you
2. God will adopt you as his child
3. God will give you the HS as a pledge
4. God will make you into a new creature
5. God will restor you to life (regeneration)
6. God will wash you and make you clean
7. God will teach you to be like him.
We can be confident of this thing, that he who started a good work in us will complete it.
the question is, where is your faith? In self (works) or in God (grace and mercy)
rom 11: 6 and if by grace, than it is no longer of works, ; otherwise grace is no longer grace.but if it is of works, then it is no longer of grace. otherwise work is no longer work
It can be one (grace) or the other (works) but it can not be both.
The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ our Lord. rom 6
You keep doing this. I will pray for you.I will continue with my good deeds and repent for my bad deeds and let God be the judge. For as James says, faith without deeds is dead
I will continue to trust God.. and continue to know he will continue his work in me. Forming me into the man he created. Not because I am worthy, But because he is Good
