The candle had no significance other than a means to focus. But even if it doesn't 'work' for you it may give you some idea of what might work.
I had to replace the batteries in the Kincaide shadow box and clean the corrosion off the contacts, but the light does help me focus. Because I expect it to help me focus? Nothing wrong with that. Christians believe in miracles, not magic.Funny you mention candles (and what may 'work' for me) - I've got a Thomas Kincaide shadow-box thingy with LEDs on my wall that somebody gave me for Christmas quite a few years back. I found that I focused better with Kincaide's lights on. It's been a while since I've done that; I had completely forgotten.
Someone (probably my ex-daughter-in-law whose name also doesn't get mentioned around our house) also gave me a small Kincaide sculpture called "The Light of Peace". This is a lighthouse in the middle of some bad storm with an LED that lights up. It also helped me focus, and I like the lighthouse symbolism. Now I'll forever associate Mr. Kincaide's art with prayer. I could do worse. Again, thank you, @Pearl, for the tip.
I also tried @Heart2Soul's tip about going through the Lord's Prayer bit by bit. The part about "...as we forgive those who trespass against us" juxtaposed with (ahem) the reasons why my ex-daughter-in-law's name does not get mentioned around our house was a bit ... (ahem) ... convicting.
