It is amazing to know that sin debt has been paid for all people! Amen. Praise be to God for the Lord Jesus Christ.

John the Baptist was warning also of the people coming to him about the wrath was coming for them.

It is amazing what the first century Christian’s wen through, they suffered death, and persecution, for the gospel of the kingdom to be spread forth and look where it is at today.

Still being shared, the light of all mankind, the Gospel of Christ, his death, burial, and resurrection.

I think about that a lot if we were inspired and aggressive as they were back then what it would be like now. Out there everyday sharing Gods Word not willing disown Jesus name during our time of persecution. Showing Jesus how desperate we are on bringing out his word and saving people

True many differ. John baptized for the repentance of sin preparing the way for Jesus arrival. After Jesus died and rose from the dead. What happenned on the day of penntecost The Spirit came they stated speaking in tongues it says their tongues felt like they were on fire. The baptism started then for being reborn into the family of Christ. Our spiritual life belonging to God. Not a baptism for the repentance of sin.
But it also was a baptism for the remission of sins as described in Acts 2:38. It's identical to the baptism of John as per Luke 3:3 the difference being baptized into Christ in Acts 2:38 for the remission of sins which also gives you the gift of the Holy Ghost and the Lord adds you to the church per verse 47. That's where you become a child of God, a Christian, and part of the Lord's body.

Those that spoke in tongues on the day of Pentecost were the apostles, and the spirit fell on THEM uniquely as a sign to the Jews. This was the power from on high as spoken of by Jesus in Luke 24:49 and John in Luke 3:16.

Bump.

The obedience that I know of is of the two commandments; putting God first - before yourself and your own family? And loving your neighbor as yourself, would you agree @Bob Estey?

It’s understandable that if people make decisions that can lead them in prison? Or bad finically situations and stuff like that, but isn’t the focus on the Lord Jesus Christ his death, burial, and resurrection that implants that we should die to ourselves and become alive in Christ having our mind renewed on heavenly things rather than what the world produces?
We are to love God with all our hearts, minds, and souls, and love our neighbor as ourselves - those are the two great commandments (Matthew 22:34-40). I would say the other commandments help define these.

The Bible seems to indicate differently here, Robert.
How so Matt? Who's side of the issue did Jesus stand on sir? He was point blank given the opportunity to stand on satans side correct? Mat 4:8,9. How did Jesus answer Matt? Yes sir, he stood with Jehovah, and sent satan away!

Yes if you don't get baptized you will never receive the holy spirit and you'll never become a child of God. The apostles received the gift of speaking in tongues so they could go all over the world and share the word of God by speaking in their language so the whole world will be able to become a child of God. Faith is done by hearing the word not seeing it.

He was the very Word of God sent by God, to reconciled the world unto himself. That is my answer to the question, Robert. Jesus is the one who created everything, with God right there with him - as he spoke - the Word saying Let there be light, and the Word when spoken created. That is what I believe about Jesus, that he also one with the Father, as the Lord God Almighty, now today (which he was the known as the Word before but the Word became flesh and dwelt among the people in that time). He was also known as God's very own son who was the only begotten son after the Resurrection, as Hippie pointed out.

Jesus is Gods Son. God sacrificed his Son to save the world. Jesus knew he was going to have to do that from the beginning. When God created the heavens and the earth he said to his son. Let us make man in our image. We are Gods only creation with a soul. We are Gods only creation that was made in his image. God and Jesus are both one. Jesus said that himself You have seen me you have seen the Father.

I tend to think God was talking to angels, but you made some good points about Him being the Son, thank you hippie.

You all have a good day.

So so disappointed in this thread.
None here gave an answer, so I will not give one either except to say.......

IT IS EITHER YOU KNOW GOD INTIMATELY AND HE KNOWS YOU THE SAME...............
OR IT IS ETERNAL SEPARATION FROM HIM !

That's not how. How relates to what one must do: it infers action is required. One must obey the gospel. Ref 2 Thes 1:8-9. Read the account of the conversion of the Ethiopian eunuch in Acts 8. He heard the word, believed it, confessed his belief, and was baptized.

When you consider all pertinent scriptures related to salvation, you end up with a short list of things that are required in order to be saved.
1. Belief and faith
2. Confession of your belief (Rom 10:9)
3. Repentance (Acts 2:38)
4. Baptism, immersion in water fir the remission of sins (Acts 2:38)

After doing the above, the Lord adds you yo his body which is the church (Acts 2:47), at which point you're also saved, become a Christian, and a child of God.

Faith is GIVEN to those who BELIEVE.
That statement makes no sense whatsoever. So you have misinterpreted that verse (Gal 3:22). Looking at verses 21 and 22 we find that the promise is of eternal life, and eternal life is given to those who believe: 21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given [eternal] life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. 22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise [of eternal life] by faith of [or by faith in] Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

Several translations have "by faith in Jesus Christ" which corresponds to the Gospel. And we know that the gift of God is eternal life (Rom 6:23)

What we see here is that no man can establish his righteousness by obedience to the Law, since that obedience will never be perfect. And God never intended that in the first place. Therefore we are justified by grace through faith, and receive the gift of eternal life. And this answers the question in the title. Those who believe on Christ become children of God through the New Birth, when the Holy Spirit regenerates the ones who believes (John 1:12,13).

How do you become a child of God?

Confessing sins, believing Jesus is God, who died and rose again and lived sinless.

Entrusting your eternal salvation with Him.

Jesus then indwells your spirit, through the Holy Spirit. You become eternally saved.

John 3:16, 3:36, 5:24. Romans chapter 10. Romans 5:8.

Baptism isn't part of this. But a right response to having been given this.

Baptism is put in with a number of verses about salvation, because people were baptised by immersion in water straight after belief in Christ. They didn't have to be baptized right then, but people were generally much more zealous then.
