The self, by nature, is carnal and selfish. We need to overcome that.24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.

That's the bad news, but22 to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires,
