If an unbeliever chooses to believe IN Jesus as his Lord and Savior he is saved BUT if an unbeliever is baptized he is just a wet unbeliever.

Why would an unbeliever get baptized?

There have been numerous unbelievers (who attend various false religions and cults) that have been water baptized, but do not truly believe the gospel. Such people may believe "mental assent" that the death, burial and resurrection of Christ "happened" yet they do not believe unto salvation by trusting in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ as the ALL-sufficient means of their salvation. (1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Romans 1:16)

Romans: Chapter 10 verse 9-10-13 GOD SAYS=

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt believe in your heart that God hath raised him
from the dead, thou shalt be Saved. For with the heart man
believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession
is made unto Salvation. For whosoever shall call upon the
name of the Lord shall be Saved....................
And as long was we endour to the end, we will be saved: Matthew 24:13

But they believe in what they are doing.

My question stands, why would someone get baptized that does not believe?

Surely Jesus was not so uninformed as to assume that in Mark 16:16?

Christians think Jesus meant this..."he that does not believe and is baptized...".

Fact is, Jesus KNEW only a believer would attempt to be baptized to be saved.

Think!!! to please his mother, wife. friends =lots of reasons!!!
No, to deal with himself.

Only little children do that, unless these adults have mental insecurities.

When we baptized, we tell them "....in the name of Jesus for the remission of your sins", then SPLASH!

They know what they are doing.

Do you fellers even teach repent and be baptized, or just believe, not repent and be baptized?

That is why Peter added repentance in Acts 2:38.

So, believe per Mark 16:16, then repent per Acts 2:38, and be baptized per Mark 16:16 and Acts 2:38, then....

These verses nicely accommodate each other.

But they believe in what they are doing.
We must believe in/have faith in/trust in/reliance in Jesus Christ as the ALL-sufficient means of our salvation.

My question stands, why would someone get baptized that does not believe?
Because they trust in their baptism to save them (along with other works) and not in Christ alone for salvation. I was born and raised in the Roman Catholic church and had also spent some time in the church of Christ prior to my conversion, so I understand your confusion.

Surely Jesus was not so uninformed as to assume that in Mark 16:16?

Christians think Jesus meant this..."he that does not believe and is baptized...".
Mark 16:16 - He who believes and is baptized will be saved (general cases without making a qualification for the unusual case of someone who believes but is not baptized) but he who does not believe will be condemned. The omission of baptized with "does not believe" shows that Jesus does not make baptism absolutely essential for salvation. Condemnation rests on unbelief, not on a lack of baptism. So salvation rests on belief. *NOWHERE does the Bible say "baptized or condemned."

If water baptism is absolutely required for salvation, then why did Jesus not mention it in the following verses? (3:15,16,18; 5:24; 6:29,40,47; 11:25,26). What is the one requirement that Jesus mentions 9 different times in each of these complete statements? *BELIEVES. *What happened to baptism? *Hermeneutics.

*John 3:18 - He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who (is not water baptized? - NO) does not believe is condemned already, because he has not (been water baptized? - NO) because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Fact is, Jesus KNEW only a believer would attempt to be baptized to be saved.
Jesus knew that only a genuine believers will be saved. (John 3:15,16,18; 5:24; 6:29,40,47; 11:25,26) Jesus is not surprised by false converts (who are not genuine believers) that attempt to be baptized to be saved.

Again, who is baptizing unrepented unbelievers?

I have never seen that in 40 years.

You, as I was, were unwillingly baptized as an unrepented unbelieving infants.

The command is to believe and repent to be qualified to be baptized for the remission of our sins(saved).

We can't use the RCC as an excuse not to be baptized as adults.

Not only as an infant in the RCC, but also later as an adult, prior to my conversion in a different church that also taught works salvation. Repent (change of mind) precedes believe/faith. (Matthew 21:32; Mark 1:15; Acts 20:21) I know multiple people who were water baptized as adults in various churches that taught salvation by works and looking back at the time they were water baptized, realized later after their conversion that they did not truly repent and believe the gospel at the time of their previous baptism. They just previously came up out of the water as wet sinners.

In Acts 2:38, "for the remission of sins" does not refer back to both clauses, "you all repent" and "each one of you be baptized," but refers only to the first. Peter is saying "repent unto the remission of your sins," the same as in Acts 3:19. The clause "each one of you be baptized" is parenthetical. This is exactly what Acts 3:19 teaches except that Peter omits the parenthesis.

*Also compare the fact that these Gentiles in Acts 10:45 received the gift of the Holy Spirit (compare with Acts 2:38 - the gift of the Holy Spirit) and this was BEFORE water baptism (Acts 10:47).

In Acts 10:43 we read ..whoever believes in Him receives remission of sins. Again, these Gentiles received the gift of the Holy Spirit - Acts 10:45 - when they believed in the Lord Jesus Christ - Acts 11:17 - (compare with Acts 16:31 - Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved) BEFORE water baptism - Acts 10:47. This is referred to as repentance unto life - Acts 11:18.

So the only logical conclusion *when properly harmonizing scripture with scripture* is that faith in Jesus Christ "implied in genuine repentance" (rather than water baptism) brings the remission of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit (Luke 24:47; Acts 2:38; 3:19; 5:31; 10:43-47; 11:17,18; 13:39; 15:7-9; 16:31; 26:18). *Perfect Harmony*

Head in the sand!!! Wake up!!
Those who don't understand that unbelievers (who profess to be believers) get baptized as well are either very naive or else they don't properly understand what it means to believe unto salvation.

They just previously came up out of the water as wet sinners.

So, you believe that if a man is in Christ, he is no longer a sinner?

I would say, of course they come out of the water as wet sinners....saved by grace.

Matthew 10:32 teaches that we can be saved through water baptism...inasmuch as the same is a confession of Jesus Christ before men.

Really! Do you think Paul was giving him a homily on salvation in the middle of the night? The next two verses say:
"And they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all that were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their wounds, and he was baptized at once, with all his family".
You see believe + baptism (at once).

No “homily”——— just the essentials. He was Saved the instant that he Believed.....the other good stuff is what Saved people do....” Those that Believe In me ALREADY HAVE Eternal Life and shall NEVER come into Condemnation”
