It may well be a series of tough days for a long time. Motherhood trenches.

How was my day.

Yesterday, I had a busy day of decluttering and organising my home...I am a minimalist and can’t abide clutter, yet it still creeps in,lol= laugh out loud.

When there is less stuff in my house= less housework....took me a while to get to that place of understanding.

Have a great day everyone..xx

Speaking of clutter...

I thought all I needed to do was put in a wheelchair ramp up the garage steps to make the house accessible. When it actually came time to USE the ramp, I found there was no room maneuver a chair with a 200 lb. man onto the ramp around 30 years of clutter. Two trips to Goodwill and a "Free to a good home" sign on some useable stuff outside, and I at least have a working solution. The garage looks better than it has in years.

God showed me this a few years ago and it took the pressure right off. Hope it helps @Wynona

A PICTURE OF MARRIAGE

Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. Ephesians 5:22

Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. Ephesians 5:24

Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Colossians 3:18

As a woman and, I suspect, in the company of many other women, I have often wished that these verses weren’t included in the scriptures. Wrongly I have perceived them to be biased in favour of the man in a relationship. But God has showed me a new picture of submission and in a loving relationship it ought not to be a heavy thing, but rather something joyful and natural.

I am an ardent fan of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and love to watch the celebrities grow in confidence during the weeks spent learning and competing. Even in the relatively early days of the programme some of the amateur dancers stand out and by the final couple of weeks it becomes harder to predict who will win.

As I was watching a recent episode of ‘Strictly’ I began to see that a good marriage should be like a dance partnership. The man leads, the woman follows his lead. She must trust him implicitly if the difficult lifts are to be successful. He twirls her away and she dances alone for a while but they are still in step, still dancing to the same music. He draws her back into a close hold and she rests in his arms in the beautiful rhythms of the dance. She reacts to his every move and he is completely aware of her.

Whether the music is fast and joyful or slow and sensuous their partnership is beautiful. And the longer they dance together the more confident of her own ability the female partner becomes.

To me this is a picture of how marriage should be. It is an equal partnership with each partner having their own role; their own set of steps if you like. The woman in a marriage should not lead her partner but follow him just as the female dancer follows the male lead. But equally the man should not control the woman, she must follow willingly.

There will be circumstances when a woman will be ‘dancing’ separately from her husband, for example following a career or ministry, but their lives should continue to be lived in harmony and in step with one another.

During hard times, as in the dance lifts, the wife needs to trust the husband. And there need to be times of closeness and intimacy for the partnership to remain strong.

These dances are choreographed for a man and a woman and are so beautiful to watch when performed by experts. But the dance would not look so good if either was dancing alone; or if the man was pulling and pushing the woman around the ballroom; or if the woman was resisting and refusing to follow the man’s lead.

This picture of marriage has really opened my eyes to how things should be and I hope it blesses those who read it.

Today was a good day. Unusually hot for this time of the year in my region (25°C+), so for the first time in 2024 I ironed some short sleeve shirts for my husband. A little over a month left of the Great Lent fast (ends on 4 May).

My energy is so low, my husband and I agreed I should focus only on baby care and not any other household duties. He said not to worry about doing things for him. He never exaggerates.

He remains the more giving spouse yet again.

God restored some energy today. My bloodwork is normal---maybe I just let myself get too discouraged and it shut my energy down?

I made a super involved recipe---shrimp and grits. It turned out good. I had to clean the kitchen to do so, which really needed to be done.

I enjoyed the energy and did my hair, dressed up, and was able to be even more attentive to Naomi after the food was done.

I want to remember this day. Yesterday, my fatigue was the worst it had ever been. Then, after a meal it all changed that evening. All the energy just came back, completely restored to pre-pregnancy levels.

So today I asked my father-in-law to take Naomi and I to the park. My teenage sister in law hopped in with us. We had a great time. I never knew we had such an incredible park nearby! It had so many features. And the weather was sunny, but not too hot at all.

I never want to forget how relieved my husband was. His appetite returned. He looked more relaxed than he did in a long time. No one should have to be so strong under that amount of stress for so long.

It was impossible not to feel God's mercy today. All glory goes to Him. There is no me without Him. No baby, no husband, no nothing. He's the best!
