Hypocrisy! Sometimes I want the time to pass quickly, other times slowly, but I always want to be myself! Pray that I get my head straight! (love?)

Hi there,

So there is a bit of a problem with my faith: sometimes I want the time to pass quickly, sometimes I want the time to pass slowly, but I always want to be myself! If I am always myself, how can I have the time pass both slowly and quickly? I need prayer! I don't think I am alone in that either! The power of God is what I am waiting for, if I am honest. But clearly I don't know how to go about it, apart from reading scripture and praying. What a mess! If God could change me, why would I complain? Right?

I'm not sure what attitude Jesus had when He headed to the Cross, but I am sure He was dependent on God, as to how to interpret the things of the Holy Spirit. I've had faith to ask, so please help get me out of this situation?

Thanks.

Only believe, GS, and you can live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Everything God has said, He will bring to pass, in His appointed time.

The working out of the will of God in our lives is directly commensurate with the enthusiasm with which we believe.

The story is told of the Archbishop of Canterbury dining out when he spotted a very talented and popular stage actor sitting across the room.

He appealed to the headwaiter to make every effort to arrange an introduction. When the actor sat down opposite him, he wasted no time in asking: "Tell me, how is it that you're able to hold an audience captive so effectively?" to which the man replied:

"Your Reverend Holiness, it is quite simply a matter of enthusiasm. We of the theatre speak of things imaginary as if they were forever settled in Heaven. And you of the pulpit speak of things forever settled in Heaven as if they were imaginary."

The things we believe as Christians will only give us comfort if we believe them with all of our heart. Which we may do as we exercise and practice believing.

Much more could be said about this. And books have been written about the subject, but they all amount to the same thing:

The closer we identify with the reality that God really means what He says, the more we will have the blessings/happiness that belong to the poor in spirit, the mourners, the peacemakers, etc.

I'm don't think I know exactly what it is you want prayer on. But I prayed that God will help and guide you in whatever way and manner he will. I will pray Jesus to help you with the hypocrisy you desire to be helped on.

You'll be having seasons in your life. There will be seasons where the time you're spending on something will go slowly, and other times go quicker. I hope God gives you wisdom and guidance on this also.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 ("Pray Constantly") might be helpful.

When things are going well, it would seem normal that you should want time to pass slowly, and when things aren't going well, it would seem normal that you should want time to pass quickly.

And the Lord gave us commandments to obey. We avoid a lot of trouble when we obey those commandments.

Pray The Lord's prayer slowly and it will lift off of you. So simple, and yet it seems so far. Blessings Gottservant.

Praying for God to provide for you his goodness and other attributes he desires for you.

Sometimes time passes at different rates for me as well. I find it interesting rather than disturbing really. One time I was in a near freeway accident and the Spirit of God slowed time down really slow that I could steer the car to avoid an accident without losing control. I don't know if that relates to your condition, perhaps in smaller ways it might? Also I think time flies when we're having fun and can be slow when not? Hmmm. Don't know.
