I’m in a strange place: very conservative, but not Christian

Sadly this is true . the problem is the evangelical realm has long been infiltrated by the wrong men .
The church was to shine the light , not compromise the light to fit society .
THEY did this for survival . They turned the church into a money making machine .
ANd in order to keep the money coming in , to increase , well they had to pander to society .

As people leave churches, churches pander harder, causing more people to leave. People grow to expect this pandering to be how a church should be. But, it absolutely isn't what churches should be. Here's the thing for me, are Christians really so stupid that they think churches should pander and that they think this helps, rather than hurts, as they watch churches shrink? I've come to answer this question yes. And, that makes Christianity look like a superstition of stupid people. Intellectually, I can think differently, but emotionally I can't.

I SUGGEST we open bibles and get busy learning for ourselves that which most men no longer even teach
and if they do its only small parts of it taken out of text to promote a lie .
