"Then Jesus said unto them, I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD: he that follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." John 8:12.

Jesus said, "And this is the condemnation, that LIGHT is come into this world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his deeds be reproved. But he that come to the Truth comes to the light, that his deeds made manifest, that they are wrought in God." John 3:19-21.

Jesus said, "Ye are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid." Matt 5:14.

"Every good gift and every perfect gift comes down from the FATHER OF LIGHTS with Whom there is no variation, or shadow of turning." Ja 1:17.

"Then God said, Let there be light; and there was light." Gen 1:3.

"And God saw that the light was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light day, and the darkness He called night. And the evening and the morning were the first day." Gen 1:4,5.

"And God said, Let there be in the firmament of heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and season, and days and years. And let them be for lights in the firmament of heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: He made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of heaven to give light upon the earth: and God saw that it was good. And to rule over the day, and to divide the light from the darkness. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day." Gen 1:14-19.

"I FORM THE LIGHT, and create darkness, I make peace and create evil: I, the Lord do all these things." Isa 45:7.

"Thus says the Lord which gives sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divides the sea when the waves roar; The Lord of hosts is His name." Jer 31:35.

"IN THE DAYTIME HE LED THEM WITH A CLOUD, AND ALL THE NIGHT WITH A LIGHT OF FIRE." Ps 78:14.

"WHO COVERS THYSELF WITH LIGHT AS WITH A GARMENT: who stretches out the heavens like a curtain." Ps 104:2.

"And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven. And he (Saul) fell to the earth, and heard a Voice say unto him, Why do you persecute Me?" Acts 9:3,4.

"And behold the Angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and He smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands." Acts 12:7.

"The light of the eyes rejoices the heart: and a good report makes the bones fat." Pro 15:30.

Jesus said, "The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thy eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness, and how great is that darkness!" Matt 6:22,23.

"AND WAS TRANSFIGURED BEFORE THEM; AND HIS FACE DID SHINE AS THE SUN, AND HIS RAIMENT WAS WHITE AS THE LIGHT." Matt 17:2.

"Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; Whom no man hath seed, nor can see: to Whom be honor and power everlasting. Amen." 1 Tim 6:16.

"Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." Ps 119:105.

"The entrance of thy Word gives light; it gives understanding to the simple." Ps 119:130.

"LIGHT IS SOWN FOR THE RIGHTEOUS, AND GLADNESS FOR THE UPRIGHT IN HEART." Ps 97:11.

and to a person who doesnt really understand what all these scriptures mean, they mean that the 'light' is spiritual 'understanding' and 'truth' about God.

Our spirituality needs to be fed a certain type of 'light' in order to be reconciled to God, and Jesus is the source of the light that leads us back to God.
