I read this Luke 18:9-14 and it gives me hope, but then I read this and think I'm doomed Matthew 25:31-46.

I'm not the best at helping the poor and I don't visit people in jail or the sick too much. I do help people when I can.

So the thread is about what people think is required for salvation. I'm not real versed in this and my current views are orthodox, but this thread should be for all to express their opinions and debate how we can be saved.

I'm not one of the doctrine where I say I'm saved, I like to leave that up to God and just say I'm a sinner and need to be saved.

    What are your beliefs?

In short: embrace Jesus Christ with your whole self: heart, mind, might, and soul.

Walking with Him is not a one-and-done thing, but an entire lifetime+ journey. You’re not going to reach the point of finished perfection in this lifetime.

Thanks, sometimes I get this feeling that I'm doomed, but I guess when I get that feeling I can repent and keep doing like you suggest. Where does that doomed feeling come from I wonder?

Prayerfully and hopefully, from the active living conscience which is a gift from the Creator.

The conscience is a gift from God.

The devil may try to make someone feel guilty when they are not guilty - as the devil is the liar and the father of all lies - the devil may imitate the conscience or the feelings of guilt to bring someone down....

The devil may also make someone 'feel' as if forgiven or okay, even when they are still guilty, held accountable by God, and will suffer for their sin. This is very common today, all over the world.

Everyone needed to be saved ....
God's Plan was to send Jesus to save people...

Do you remember what Jesus did for everyone who came to Him to be healed ?

Yeah this was more of a doom or worry (fear), maybe I'm OK then, the Bible says fearing him who can send you to the lake of fire is OK: Matthew 10:28

Yeah that's what I like about Jesus, he will work with you if you ask him to save you. At least that's what I believe.

Not exactly. But everyone who came to Jesus to be healed was healed.

Those who did not do as He says though, they walked away sad - not helped.

Those who did not listen when He says "go and sin no more", got worse... if they sinned again wilfully.. rebelling against Him, and maybe not even so strongly put. ...as Jesus said "lest your future state becomes worse than your past state" ...

Can you give biblical examples of people not being helped by Jesus when they wanted help?

Also can you give biblical examples of people suffering worse for sinning after being forgiven?

Thanks I'm curious to read about these things.

Remember and read about the rich man who walked away sad (instead of saved, instead of perfect, as Jesus had just told him what to do) . He had much possessions.

Does dying count ? As in Ananias and Saphira , in Acts ... they died for lying to God.

And sick and dying ? In Corinthians.... they were admonished that because of their sin many of their assembly of believers were sick and many were dying. (same is happening today, and the warnings are being ignored most of the time it seems, for many decades, and longer ? )

One more example : See if you can find and read about the people who obeyed God - they did what God said to do.

    Then God PUNISHED THEM.

Because they grumbled . They did not joyously and willingly freely do what God said, but grudgingly , complaining... and God rightly and justly punished them.

Then he didn't want Jesus help clearly, he turned Jesus down. Not the other way around.

No dying doesn't count because that would presume Saphira and Ananias were forgiven by God first. And the people that were sick, does it say they were forgiven?

Why assume there were forgiven by God first? Since they then later did not repent - when they lied to God they could have repented but did not, instead they dropped dead.

Don't presume. And no worries - the Corinthians likewise are another example of being sick and dying for sinning, after being part of the assembly of Ekklesia immersed in Jesus' Name.

This has not answered my question at all. What does repentance have to do with being forgiven by God, it really doesn't. They are two different things.

Who told you that someone could be forgiven without repentance then ? Where does that teaching come from ?

More well known of course, in Corinthians, are the Corinthians being one or another example of being sick and dying for sinning, after being part of and continuing in the assembly of Ekklesia immersed in Jesus' Name (the born again ones, set apart by God for God) ....
