Everlasting punishment...but what's the punishment?Matthew 25:46
And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
It's death! Everlasting, eternal death. A death from which there will be no resurrection.
Corpses. It's talking about corpses - not "disembodied souls" with worms crawling in and out. The bodies of heathen were not buried, but cast into the "city dump" of Jerusalem in the Valley of Gehena, where the fire is kept burning and the maggots continually feast on carcasses.Mk 9:44 Where their worm dieth not,
2 Chronicles 36:19-21 KJV says Jeremiah's prophecy that Jerusalem was burned with "unquenchable fire" was fulfilled -- but is it still burning, or did the fire eventually burn itself out?and the fire is not quenched!
"Unquenchable fire" means no amount of human effort will succeed in quenching the fire, but "unquenchable fire" burns itself out, as was in the case of Jerusalem.
Traditionalists need to consider the whole of Scripture instead of carving out certain sections and excluding others which need to have their impact on this issue.
