Nice Devil thread you've got going here, attacking fellow Christians for their ideas and losing your peace. I don't even know what is going on here, everyone is just mad and insulting eachother.

Welcome to Christian Forums, a Christian Forum that recognizes that all Christians are a work in progress.
You will need to register to be able to join in fellowship with Christians all over the world.
We hope to see you as a part of our community soon and God Bless!
It’s not talking about money. That is of this kingdom. And the attitude he was referring to is humility. It was hidden from you because he paraphrased, which is a good way to see if someone has understood what they read - see if they can pick out the truth of a statement without the thees and thous and usual wordings. So, given that, in concert with many other Verses, who are the rich and who are the poor? From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked. Doesn’t this also say that less will be expected of those who weren’t given as much? So we see the rich and the poor here.
Then the righteous will answer Him, Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? And when did we see You a stranger and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? And when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?
make friends for yourselves by means of the wealth of unrighteousness, so that when it is all gone, they will receive you into the eternal dwellings. (And this will be true despite what the rich in here say about the poor!)
It helps.Does one need a super secret magic scripture decoder ring to see these hidden things that aren't there? Do I get one if I sign up for the fan club?
Those who imagine themselves on some higher path…like, for instance…Im as righteous as Jesus, and that man over there who appears to be good by his many works is not righteous at all. I’m righteous not by anything I do and that other man is not righteous despite much good he does for others. I thank you Lord I’m not like that other man!Blessed are the poor---- in spirit. Poor-in-spirit..... not those who imagine themselves on some higher path.
Its not false. I have done the berean thing. It’s just not false.God gives grace to the humble and opposes the proud. It must be an important principle because it gets quoted twice in the new testament. Humble yourselves before the Lord and he will exalt you. You don't have to exalt yourselves as if you can "progress" from one state to another. It's a false doctrine he teaches.
Mmm, no...I never called Stunned by "Jennie". I do sometimes refer to her as "Jen" though.
Hey welcome to the thread. Yeah, speaking about righteousness can get pretty nasty. A devil thread? We're dealing with humanity and the basic tendency of the flesh towards unbelief.Nice Devil thread you've got going here, attacking fellow Christians for their ideas and losing your peace. Probably not a bee in her bonnet given that she’s still up to her bonnet in snow.
Enough of all this edification business! ;) ...hey...look at that thread over there!Listen.
To all, but particularly to @Episkopos and his pit crew @stunnedbygrace and @Nancy I'm going to bow out of this thread and leave you to pat one another's heads as you please. It just becomes noise at some point, the clanging of cymbals which some might enjoy, but I don't.
I'm always up for a good discussion, but not ready to join what amounts to a mutual admiration society.
Be willing to challenge your thinking, and his. Advice ignored by the People's Temple.
Cheers! (but not that kind of Cheers)
ps..... don't drink from the cup.
Suppose that if you hit someone, and they hit you back. Did you learn a lesson? Did you WANT to learn that lesson? I suppose you didn't, you just wanted to hit them and not get hit back, yet it happened anyways. So if you suffer for your own sins and thereby learn a hard lesson, that is the fundamental principle for how God's righteousness is taught to unrighteous flesh.Hey welcome to the thread. If someone testifies to the higher walk...the cries of "liar, or, imposter"...ring out! Of course we read of the Israelites in the desert who had that same tendency. So then the flesh has not progressed since then.
But somehow the modern teachings seem to have God imputing His righteousness on rebellious flesh? HMMM...Maybe there is lack of understanding about what righteousness is.
What do you think?
Lol, no bee and no crime :)Is there a bee in your bonnet? Are you imagining a conspiracy of some sort?
I mistakenly called @stunnedbygrace by your name (Nancy) one time, and apologized for the error. Then I recalled you having called her Jen once or twice, so I used the forum search function, searching for where the member Nancy said "Jen" and that brought up this link, where she referred to herself as Jennie. Does that solve the crime?
Studying the Bible without thinking critically
The supreme irony is that people routinely will tell me that they can't see what I'm talking about. You made me chuckle very heartily! I thought the irony, given your assertions here, was that the thread is titled reading your bible without thinking critically...:D:pwww.christianityboard.com

I've been a member of multiple Christian forum sites for over 10 years now and it's not uncommon to walk into a hornets nest in certain threads, especially when you are dealing with "self promoters" who view themselves as "holier than thou" and look down on others. Whenever I do enter a hornets nest, I'm instantly reminded of the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector in Luke 18:9-14.Nice Devil thread you've got going here, attacking fellow Christians for their ideas and losing your peace. And this puts light on my error, that I don't realize this at the appropriate time when that moment has come, that it has become only noise. There is a time to just sit back and let it be enough, and I can miss that!I'm going to bow out of this thread and leave you to pat one another's heads as you please. It just becomes noise at some point, the clanging of cymbals which some might enjoy, but I don't.
It's easy to get carried away. I think that anything that causes one to be angry, it's best to just dust your feet off and walk away from, and if you can manage it, compliment your adversary too, because leaving on a note of respectful disagreement can lead to more fruitful conversations down the line, but escalation just turns everyone hateful and angry.I've been a member of multiple Christian forum sites for over 10 years now and it's not uncommon to walk into a hornets nest in certain threads, especially when you are dealing with "self promoters" who view themselves as "holier than thou" and look down on others. This proverb is so true. Proverbs 15:1 - A soft answer turns away wrath, but grievous words stir up anger. It's easy to get carried away. But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire.
Boxing analogies aside, do you think God sees us as righteous as He is because we believe Him?Suppose that if you hit someone, and they hit you back. Did you learn a lesson? I've been on Christian forums for, I think, 23 or 24 years. I've moderated on 2, which was why I declined an invitation here. I'd much rather be just one of the bunch. Someone needs to do it, but when you get the idea of what you are really dealing with, well, it's a difficult and thankless and messy job. I have the utmost appreciation for our Mods here!I've been a member of multiple Christian forum sites for over 10 years now and it's not uncommon to walk into a hornets nest in certain threads, especially when you are dealing with "self promoters" who view themselves as "holier than thou" and look down on others. Yes, it is easy to get carried away, and some topics more than others. And that's part of the beauty of a forum like this, you can proceed at your own pace. If you need a little time to sit back and collect yourself, you can. It's not like an in person conversation, where if you say something you shouldn't too bad, it's already said.
