"But the fruit of the Spirit is love (agape),..." Galatians 5:22 NKJV
"Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels,
but have not love (agape),
I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.
And though I have
the gift of prophecy,
and understand all mysteries and all knowledge,
and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains,
but have not love (agape),
I am nothing.
And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor,
and though I give my body to be burned,
but have not love (agape),
it profits me nothing." 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 NKJV
Agape is a
supernatural love. We cannot produce it ourselves; only the Holy Spirit can produce it within us.
- Faith avails us to the working of the Spirit,
- Who bears the fruit of agape love in our hearts, then
- We have a real sense of what God wants us to do.
Whoever would jump to step #3 without experiencing step #2, first, is doing a dead work and not fulfilling the heart of James 2:17-26. (There is no "fake it until you make it" in Christianity.)
