Although the Bible does not make any specific reference to this , I am with you guys on this matter. If it does not serve a purpose other than the flesh, discard it, forget it. Its an idol. get rid of it.Its only when instances like this when the subject is brought up that I am reminded of it.Be Blessed

I'm diabetic and can't fast. As for masturbation--whether it's sin or not is a matter of opinion since there is NO scripture on it one way or the other. I would say it's a non-issue with God unless there is lust involved. Of course, some of us can't do it any more.

The bottom line is this, there are three kinds of people when it comes to masturbation. those who do it, those who lie about it, and those who are sick or too to old and perform mental masturbation!
I think it is a bodily fuction and not a sexual sin. Urination and passing a stool does not glorify God and neither does sexual intercourse in a marriage but it is not a sin to use your body to have sex when married. But rather the sin comes in when you sleep with a prostitute etc.Because you sin against your own body which is the temple of the Holy Spirit.You have to have empty your bladder and your bowels. Well the same if for men with Semen. When it gets to full they have to empty the sac. So usually the Brain not the person causes them to have erotic dreams and a wet dream occurs. So clearly this a bodily function so as long as no wrong thoughts or lusting after the neighbour involved, I cannot see the sin in it.Faithful.
This is a very interesting topic. I actually believed masterbation to be a sin as well due to the story of Onan, but was unaware that so many people had the same feeling. However looking at it a different way Onan didnt do anything even close to masterbation. While there is nothing specifically in the bible that mentions masturbation, I would think it would fall under the term "uncleanness" in the list of sins that doing so can keep you out of heaven in the new testament.Eph 5:3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; I would think that God who is pure and holy would consider it to be so. Notice the verse above and the order of things:1- Fornication - the sexual act2- next is uncleanness in the same sentence3- then covetousness. Covetousness and LUST are the same thing as Paul said in Romans, 7:7 I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.What goes on in the mind when masturbating is unclean no matter how we try to justify it. If masturbation was not a sin we would not be having this discussion because we would not feel guilty about it.I'm not preaching at anybody for God knows in times past I was a sexual deviant in the sense of watching porn and masturbating both with and without my spouse. But those things by his grace are no longer a part of my life.

I'm sorry, but this is where I completely disagree... if masturbation is a sin, then it's a sin... but like any other sin, you can be forgiven.... God loves us that much.Eternal life with our Lord God does not revolve around if one masturbates or what kind of sins one commits... it's about accepting Jesus Christ into your life as your personal savior.That is the deciding factor in salvation.

It seem like there is two different belief systems here. If we screw up and masterbate we go to hell. Is that salvation by works. Or if one smokes he is going to hell? Or will God really save us in spite of ourselfs if we trust in Him. Every thing Ive read He will save me in spite of my self.
