Is smoking a sin?

I don't think so. the Bible does not mention directly about smoking tobacco cigarettes or cigars.

1 Corinthians 10:

23 “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything"—but not everything is constructive.
CDC lists many bad health effects:

Smoking leads to disease and disability and harms nearly every organ of the body.
It is wise not to smoke.

Similarly for vaping, it is not a sin but it is not wise.

See also Smoke weed.

op: Is smoking a sin?

Does smoking defile the temple of God?:

"Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that The Spirit of God Dwelleth in you?
If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy,
which temple ye are." (1Co 3:16-17)

Seems to be a sin.

Amen.

I like to be careful not to call everything we do a "sin," because when we do that, there comes a time we just throw up our arms and say, "It's impossible not to sin!" and then we give up. Having said that, I don't believe the Lord wants us to smoke.

Our temple is spiritual, it is not our bodies. If cigarette smoking was a sin then you might as well say all obese people are going to hell. You can then start splitting hairs with every single unnatural food or drink you put in your body, drug, alcohol ... a twinkie, a hot dog ( unless it's kosher). There are thousands of additives, artifical this and that ... oops you've defiled yourself a thousand times over.
That which enters into the mouth doesn't defile the man; but that which proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man."
Matt. 15:11

>>Maybe I am wrong about that? Made me think of this verse:
Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” John 2:19.
It's just that I think the Holy Spiritual as dwelling in a spiritual/ non-physical part of me. Maybe Jesus put that in terms we could understand and at the sake time confounded the Pharisees, as they thought He was referring to the physical Temple that took 40 years to build.

It makes me sad to see people smoke. It amazes me that it's still legal even though we know it kills many people, not to mention strokes that basically end people's lives even while they live.
What about porn?

Romans 12:1 (NLT) ~ "Dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice, the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him."

2 Corinthians 7:1 (NLT) ~ "Because we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that can defile our body or spirit. Let us work toward complete holiness because we fear God."

Smoking is unnatural and incompatible with being holy, that is, clean and pure. Why? Tobacco users intentionally consume toxins that seriously damage their bodies.

Acts 17:2-25 (NLT) ~ "He is the God who made the world and everything in it. Since he is Lord of heaven and earth, he doesn't live in man-made temples, and human hands can't serve his needs, for he has no needs. He himself gives life and breath to everything, and he satisfies every need."

Although the Bible doesn't mention smoking, specifically, we can however gather that God disapproves of unhealthy and unclean habits. Since life is a gift from God, we wouldn't want to do anything that would shorten our life, such as smoking.

Is chewing gum a sin? Is eating too much chocolate or sugar a sin? Is drinking alcohol a sin. Is smoking or vaping a sin?

No, none of them are. It makes me wonder why you asked @TonyChanYT unless you want to stir things up. It is a subject that has been covered many times and I know JWs count it a sin.

I agree too! I don't think it's a sin but it is a risk to our health which could be deemed as a bad decision or habit to pick up on. Smoking wise, at least.

It's an unclean thing for sure
I think smoking is a bad/unclean "sin" polluting and damaging to your body, the Temple of God. When I was a kid, my friend who was a bad influence and had bad influences herself, asked me if I wanted to try one in gr. 4, she was in gr. 3 and I was so unsure, confused and lost but somehow I said no and I'm so glad. If I ignorantly smoked, I would've been like the people who I hate how they smoke around me, I get frustrated and angry and annoyed, and I know it can be hard to quit once you've started it for a while but those who smoke should try their best to stop for their own health.
