I don't believe God brings new strains or the virus, to begin with though...sickness isn't of God.
Hi there Mayflower!
Just a few verses to think about:
*Exodus 9:15-16 NLT - 15 By now
I could have lifted my hand and struck you and your people with a plague to wipe you off the face of the earth. But I have spared you for a purpose--to show you my power and to spread my fame throughout the earth.
*Lamentations 3:37-38 NLT - 37 Who can command things to happen without the Lord's permission?
Does not the Most High send both calamity and good?
*Jeremiah 32:42 KJV - "For thus saith the LORD; Like as
I have brought all this great evil upon this people, so will I bring upon them all the good that I have promised them."
*Isaiah 45:7 KJV - "I form the light, and create darkness:
I make peace, and create evil:
I the LORD do all these things."
*Psalm 71:20 NIV - "Though
you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up."
I absolutely believe that the Lord is in control of ALL things, just as He controlled Pharaoh's mouth when Pharaoh said, "No! I will NOT let your people go!" Pharaoh 100% wanted the Hebrews out of Egypt, but the Lord was in control of his mouth. Why? Paul tells us:
*Romans 9:17 NLT - "For the Scriptures say that God told Pharaoh, "
I have appointed you for the very purpose of displaying my power in you and to spread my fame throughout the earth."
The Lord is in control of all things, and once we grasp this notion, this is where we shall find peace on this earth. We must give up and surrender to the idea that we control anything at all. No; we do not. If we were in control, how could the Lord's Almighty Plan come to fruition?
There is peace to be found in the understanding of the Lord's full, complete, and total control over all things. This is one of the major reasons for why I believe in Christianity . . . that the Lord controls all things.
*Daniel 2:21 NLT - "
He controls the course of world events; he removes kings and sets up other kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the scholars."
