Nah, you're taking away from Scripture by pushing the "day of the Lord" timing being the start of God's new heavens and a new earth timing.
God's consuming fire on the "day of the Lord", which is the day Jesus returns, is going to end this present world, with all still alive on earth being changed to the spiritual body. You do realize that God made flesh man also with a spirit and a soul, that he is not flesh only?? For what you say to be true, it would mean there is no such thing as the "resurrection of damnation" that Jesus mentioned coming forth on the day of His return, per John 5:28-29. I guess you forgot about Scripture like that. The Psalms is very clear that the wicked will not see God's Eternity.
Yet Isaiah 24:22 and Isaiah 14 reveals the wicked in the pit commenting even about how Lucifer has become weak as they (after Christ's return), which means Lucifer and the wicked are not destroyed yet on the day of Christ's return.
Isa 24:21-23
21 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.
22 And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited.
23 Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before His ancients gloriously.
KJV
In case you didn't get that above Scripture, I'll explain it. Verse 21 is the day of Christ's future return to punish the host of the high ones on earth, i.e. the earthly kings on that day. Those are then gathered and placed into Satan's pit prison, and then after many days (Revelation 20 "thousand years") those kings will be visited, i.e., destroyed as per the final rebellion at the end of Revelation 20. Surely you knew about that Isaiah 24 Scripture pointing directly to the time of Christ's future "thousand years" reign???

the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
5 And he that sat upon the throne said,
Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
