The churches I have attended teach that we are saved by faith, that we have to repent and change, that good works are only a sign of one's love for Jesus.

There are a great many churches out there with there own ' take ' on Christianity, let alone the various demoninations.

For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

"Christ" in this context includes those saying I am anointed which is something most preachers claim about themselves, they they are called anointed an d appointed by God to teach the people

And the majority of these folks (many) are deceiving people as in teaching false doctrine.

Sadly, most Christians would call this warning to be "negative" because it does not give them that warm and fuzzy feeling they get when they eat ice cream and pet puppy doggies!

God's warnings are very positive for those paying attention as it provides us with insight as to how the enemy is operating so we can avoid his snares.

Yeah, in the end times lots of Christians are turning away from the truth and following false doctrine.
