ESV, 1 Corinthians 3:

3 for you are still of the flesh. For while there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not of the flesh and behaving only in a human way? 4For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are you not being merely human?

Paul complained to the Corinthians of the divisions in the church. The context here is the church.

10 According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it. 11For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Build on the foundation of Christ only. Don't use any other materials:

12 Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw— 13each one’s work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. 14If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. 15If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.

Apply this truth to individual believers:

16 Do you [plural] not know that you [together] are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you [individually]? 17 If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you [plural, as a whole] are that temple.

We believers together form the temple of God because God dwells in every one of us.

Paul concluded the chapter with what he began the chapter with:

21So let no one boast in men. For all things are yours, 22whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future—all are yours, 23and you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.

Don't divide; we are all God's.

Yes, the temple of Solomon was devised and patterned after the true Temple of God in heaven. We can see what that looks like, in a limited way, in Rev 4-5.

It is a throne room, surrounded by angels. It is pure holiness and the acknowledgement of such. From there goes out orders to complete the work on earth and in heaven, on earth to deal with human rebellion, and in heaven to deal with spiritual rebellion by angels.

The earthly temple of Solomon had limited, but real value in the sense that God was able to keep Israel in His presence, despite the fact they did not yet have Eternal Life. They were forgiven, and returned to a place of blessing.

But the ultimate blessing is when Christ obtained for the repentant Eternal Life. In the meantime, that heavenly Temple is being built on earth through the Church in an as-yet incomplete way. It will be completed when Christ returns and ultimately establishes a New Earth and a New Heaven.

Jesus said that he will gather his temple of the saints together around 3,000 years after the temple was loosened such that no one stone remained on another.
