A kind of related thought. Friend of mine won't let anyone lay hands on her, unless she requests them to. She thinks that if their spirit is not right, they will impart whatever isn't right to her.

Agree...she is correct. I don't either.
Negative spirit transference can happen. If we don't know the person..don't allow their hands on you.
When my babies were small I was careful who I allowed to hold them...if I knew they were clean and safe it was fine. I never trust The Enemy he will use any advantage.
If we can impart good spiritual thing by the laying on of hands...it only goes to show the dark spirits can also impart things..

There are demons in churches.

I once went to a Church, and the leaders went on Vacation, while they were gone a couple started a Wednesday night spirit thing, and they requested that if you attended that you would need to ware a red T-shirt, It was the color of the spirit of the sperm whale, WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!
When the leader's came back, the couple were removed from any more leadership!!! They Moved On!

When we kept Joshua, an abandoned new baby boy while awaiting Jesus to send our son he'd promised, we had to pray a lot.

We had no insurance for him and were totally dependant upon prayer for the little fellow's health. I remember once he had a high fever. I anointed him with oil and placed my hands on that little body. As I prayed for healing and rebuked that infirmity his fever broke and he began to sweat while my hands were yet on him. The Lord healed him.

Over and over and over again through the years we've been forced to depend upon prayer and the laying on of hands. Being in a rural place without a church we depend solely on Jesus.

Yes I'm aware of the negative things and that we are to not to lay hands suddenly on another. This is where God's discernment of spirits comes in. I've had the Lord keep me from laying hands on another for prayer. In one such denial I was going to pray for a sick man but God said no. Two days later he died. I don't know what it was but it was clear that I wasn't to lay hands on him and pray for healing. I did stand by his sick bed to pray for his salvation. He told me that he was a sinful man and that's all I knew. Perhaps he got right with God.

Do not lay hands upon anyone too hastily and thereby share responsibility for the sins of others; keep yourself free from sin.
1 Timothy 5:22 NASB

When my BIL Mike, married to my wife's sister, was dying and on hospice we went up to pray for him. He was a Korean war vet and had been a POW not once but two times. He was a believer and so I laid hands on him and prayed for him.

He rallied after that and even his wife was surprised at the improvement. They were Methodists and and my sister in law had actually laughed before when my wife told her she was praying for her health. She attended church but as far as I know was and is not a believer though she claims to be. Many people profess to be christians but have not been born again nor baptized with the Holy Spirit.

The Lord took Mike but his last days were improved by prayer.

Yes we must use God's discernment when laying on hands but we must not shrink from praying for those in real need. We pray with or without the laying on of hands and anointing with oil.

If we do not pray then who can effectively pray for the afflicted?

"Don't lay hands suddenly"..... How on earth do people keep on thinking that was about healing or passing on spirits? Don't we even bother to read CONTENT?

Sorry if I don't carry this same fear some of you seem to. I don't even have to nervously whistle as I walk past a cemetery at night. I kind of believe "No weapon formed against me can prosper."

If I don't believe or accept any of their bunk, a hundred Satanists can lay hands on me and not do anything except maybe get their hands burned.

I understand if others have a problem with it, but I just don't see anything but a misguided human being when I see one of those Satanist types. And I am pretty sure if they were out to sneak demons into us, all they would have to do is shake our hand or simply just touch one of us walking down the street.

I think any "transference" would come from us accepting their beliefs.

Yeah, and what Christian would EVER accept their beliefs. But, do you think it possible that a weaker Christian, not knowing better, can give access to something like that? When I think about it, The Holy Spirit of God would never (seems to me) allow another spirit into our temples. If we are not walking in the Spirit for a season, moment, time period...do you think His Spirit would be grieved away? Then, the evil spirit will take up residence, with possibly up to 10 more? These are just ponderings of mine...I do not believe if we have the Holy Spirit that He will EVER leave us, despite our grieving Him. Just some thoughts :)

The devils are not excited to even come near a believer who is indwelt by the Holy Spirit. I'm not afraid to pray for anyone but the Holy Spirit directs my prayers as I mentioned.

What God has blessed cannot be cursed.

True, Frank.

But I have seen a few weirdos, I have seen them come and go....
They might not do any damage to you or me, but I saw them do damage to young Christians.
Good thing there are usually people around who look through these clowns and prevent further damage.
