Correct me if I'm wrong, but you can't eat and drink if you don't buy or sell?

Matt 24:36-41 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, f but only the Father. 37As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 40Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.

Rev 13:11-17 Then I saw a second beast, coming out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon. 12It exercised all the authority of the first beast on its behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed. 13And it performed great signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to the earth in full view of the people. 14Because of the signs it was given power to perform on behalf of the first beast, it deceived the inhabitants of the earth. It ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived. 15The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. 16It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, 17so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.

Have you researched if there was ever any time period in history when people had to possess particular identification to engage in marketing?

Not sure what your point is but those who take the mark will be buying and selling, eating and drinking. However they will be doomed to be damned.

(Matt. 24:36-41) is speaking 'before' the judicial event, the flood. (Rev. 13:11-17) is speaking to the judicial event, the Tribulation.

    Here's how it plays out.

    Jewish Great Tribulation: AD 70

““Therefore when you see the abomination of desolation which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),” (Matthew 24:15) (NASB95) "you see" = 2nd person plural = when the disciples see the AoD leave town.

““For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will.” (Matthew 24:21) (NASB95)

New Covenant era: Christian tribulation until the end. Nero/Papacy/ Islam = Antichrist.

““Then if anyone says to you, ‘Behold, here is the Christ,’ or ‘There He is,’ do not believe him.” (Matthew 24:23) (NASB95)

Days leading up to the end:

““But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.” (Matthew 24:29) (NASB95)

““Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away. “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.” (Matthew 24:34–36) (NASB95)

    1. "As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be" describing a future event
    2. I believe "the ark" represents rapture
    3. "That is how it will be" describing a future event

37As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming (parousia) of the Son of Man.

    38For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark;

39and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming (parousia) of the Son of Man.

    Rapture is our blessed hope...

1 Thess 2:19 For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when he comes (parousia)? Is it not you?

1 Thess 4:13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.

1 Thess 5:8-11 But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. 9For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. 10He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. 11Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

1 Thess 5:23 May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming (parousia) of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The day is drawing near, so as to encourage one another...

Matt 24:32-35 “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. 33Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door. 34Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. 35Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

1 Thess 4:18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.

Heb 10:25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching (eggizó).

James 5:7-8 Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. 8You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming (parousia) is near (eggizó). 9Don’t grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door!

Eph 2:3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh a and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest (loipos), we were by nature deserving of wrath.

Eph 4:30 And do not grieve (lupeó) the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

1 Thess 4:13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve (lupeó) like the rest (loipos) of mankind, who have no hope.

1 Thess 5:6 So then, let us not be like others (loipos), who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.
